    "Fashion" Question

The other day, I saw a guy at the bus stop and had to wonder...

What, exactly, is the deal with those dudes who seem to like wearing their jeans so that the seat of the pants is where their KNEES are?

How is this effective and/or fashionable?

How do they walk without tripping?

Do they seriously think it's cool, or that it looks good?

I do not get it. I almost wanted to ask him if he owned a belt or ever considered owning one. o_O

      Fun fact, Renamon:

That "baggy" and "loose" look actually orginated in prison. A lot of prisoners wore their uniforms in this fashion, and unfortunately, if you wore it in this fashion, it was signaling an "invitation" from the other inmates.

Sadly, once the individuals got out of prison, this look became more of a hood aspect, and a lot of Black people began to don the look, too. Honestly, there was a momentary time in my life where I wanted to wear my pants just like that, until my mom put some sense into me. The look is horrific indeed, Renamon, but it's not going away anytime soon.

      *waits for praise*

I saw a bunch of guys wearing their jeans around their knees, and holding them up with a belt that they actually had to hold in one hand, basically giving them one hand to work with on any given thing.

        I mean, that's ****ing ridiculous.

I agree. It's the most retarded fashion thing to date. I remember a friend of mine once got his ass kicked because he stared in amazement at some guy who was donning the low-waistline look, and when questioned about it, he asked "Is it an anti-gravity machine?" While poking the other man's low pants.

I just assume they want their pants to drag on the ground so they can pick up loose change and/or found objects. At the end of the day, they find what's accumulated there and either celebrate or despair.

Guys should just start wearing pink shirts instead... Oh, wait.

Heh, I remeber seeing a scrawny guy with no shirt that walked around with his pants around the knees at a bus stop a couple of times.

I really wished I was violent.

                          What culture?

The "I'm really a spoiled white kid but want some thug lovin'" culture?

I don't think it's really part of any real culture, like a Turban or anything like that. It's a fad that represents defiance and laziness.

It's cool to do what you want, but I really don't want to see your butt hanging out of your pants because you want to look like L.G. Rappa' Kool Jay.

Nobody is wearing their pants around their knees for religious reasons.

                              Rob, that was awesome.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this style of pants-wearing is ludicrous. I still wonder how they move their legs properly like that.
