I watched Old Country for No Men and was disappointed by the ending. What now?

    Zero conflict resolution. So lame.

    *** SPOILERS ***
Everything gets set up for a final confrontation in El Paso and all that happens is too late mexican's already killed him and the sheriff retires. I'm all for having movies make you think deep thoughts and what not but I watch movies so that I can watch them. Not wonder what happened. It's really disappointing because the entire film does such a good job at slowly building up all this tension between the three main characters.
    *** END SPOILERS ***

The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

IRC, you make me sad. The film isn't ABOUT resolving the conflict or killing Chigurh and giving you a gift-wrapped ending. It's about how awful the world is and how bad people can get away with anything they want.

C'mon guys, half the fun of the movie was letting it all sit in and discovering why the events in the movie were so powerful after reflecting on it~!

            IRC, two things.

            1. We already had a topic about this, which I bumped up a few weeks ago, (No Country for Highwind), so that there wouldn't be a need for you to make another topic.

            2. What Mora said, even thoughI was a bit perplexed at the ending as well.

Bonanza, you're topic isn't in the first five pages and I stopped looking for it after that. If there's not another topic on the first page then I'll making a new one. And you can go to hell if you don't like it. Especially if you're the guy who made a topic about the new season of south park.

I don't necessarily want all of that, but there's this huge build-up between Llewelyn and Chigurh which doesn't get a proper release. Llewelyn proves he can take care of himself and to have him killed off screen by random Mexican thugs cheapens everything invested in him. The scene revealing his death was very well done from Bell's perspective, but I couldn't tell for sure that it was Llewelyn who was killed until the movie went to credits. I was even convinced that he was the one who ran into Chigurh.

I'm ok with Chigurh not being killed. Sometimes the bad guys win. I think that his principles were under explored, but I get it I guess.

Bell troubles me because he doesn't do anything. He's got all these murders that pile up and he gets all the way to El Paso and he just leaves and retires?

It's the final episode of the Sopranos all over again. Or if you never saw the monster in Cloverfield. Or heaven forbid we never find out what's going on with the island on Lost. It doesn't mean they were bad shows or movies, they just didn't deliver when it counts.

Oh and I don't plan on seeing There Will Be Blood because I looks like it'd be boring.

This is because he sees his ****ed up old buddy with all his cats and he is like "Aw man, screw this." and decides to have cushy retirement instead of working his ass off for a world that is digusting and doesn't thank him for any of his hard work.

Then he dreams that him and his dad have dirty water dogs at coney island.

Yeah, I know, I get it. It's just not very satisfying. Honestly the more I think about it, if Llewelyn had just ended up being killed on camera by Chigurh I probably wouldn't have had a problem with any of the rest of it. It wouldn't have lessened the impact of Chigurh and Lleweln's wife later on but...

Fine by me. I'm pledging CTD, so there's no need to escalate this.

The whole movie is about chance, the unexpected and never knowing when death is around the corner (and he is). The off-camera death is frustrating at first but my god it makes perfect sense and is 10x more effective at delivering the themes of the film.

Tommy Lee Jones doesn't do anything because he can't. He lives in "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN".

You should either watch it again and interpret the dialogue or continue playing with the stick in the dirt.

Either way, if you don't get it - it's your loss and not a fault of the film.

I could've told you that mature lesbian porn isn't worth watching. And you spelled it wrong, there's no "O" in Country. It's a pun. I'll explain it when you're older.

The movie was about being men in manly ways with other men. VIOLENT men. It's also about the world may be cruel, but if you ride bikes with your friends through certain neighborhoods you can see some cool ****.

I'm leaning towards highwind's interpretation. i think the film was about strict moral codes conflicting with the random and chaotic nature of reality and i loved the crap out of the ending.

when you think about it they didn't really do anything so in your face as to kill the main character off camera, since Tommy Lee Jones was the main character and the other guy was basically just involved in something that happened to tommy lee jones at the end of his career that made him decide to retire.
