Help me get my Wii online in time for Smash Bros

I never bothered to get my Wii online, and I never really cared until now. It's always seemed to recognize my wireless in very short, random spurts, and every time it does, it only does it long enough to get maybe a quarter of the way into the update process.

I've Googled around, and tried some of the suggestions I've seen. I've disabled all the security, disabled the WEP, etc. Nothing seems to work.

What's the deal?

yeah, my connection always sucked. so I got the dongle. it works very nicely.

The dongle doesn't always ensure a proper connection either. Just FYI.

Nintendo doesn't support the dongle anymore but I saw a 3rd party wireless cord that connects from the Wii to the USB hub in your computer and shares the internet from that. That's probably your best bet.

if your router is pretty close to your wii (and you don't mind the "I've got CAT-5 cable draped around my place" look) you can just get a LAN adaptor for your wii. plugs right into one of the USB ports. You'll even get a better connection, because you're hardwired.

I might try that LAN adaptor. Maybe I'll run out to Target in a minute to see if I can find one.

I got the lan adapter too, and it works perfectly. Never had a problem.

i just use standard wireless and can offer no additional support on this subject!




though i do use the dongle from time to time, when i'm screwing with my router



still can't belive they don't support the dongle anymore. IT'S SO USEFUL!

Yeah I've never had problems with any of my systems getting on my wireless router. Never turned off the WEP and have MAC address filtering. If the DS supported WPA I would be using that, but I guess WPA wasn't big when the DS came out, so I'm stuck with WEP.

My router is this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833156052. Pretty cheap and has Draft N support.
