    I want more clickable stuff!

Ok....this is my biggest complaint for most rpgs and survival type games....

    The lack of clickable objects.

I love being able to get information on even the most mudane object. Or getting a detailed description of objects, or finding a book with some background history, or finding an item or weapon hidden away.

This very well done in Planescape, where there was tons of clickable objects to read and find.

But in today's rpgs and survival games, it seems to be a lack of clickable objects. Most of them are just stationary pictures. While pretty....if they don't do anything...they might as well not be there.

Doesn't everyone feel the joy of searching through people's drawers for objects, through their books for some forgotten lore, through their very soul!!!

I just want more clickable objects.....

I agree. Used to be you could find a sleep arrow or a herb1 in some random drawer or crate. Nowadays you'ld be lucky to even find a treasure chest. And thats only if you can even equip armor properly.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

There's nothing worse than playing through a game with a tone of crates laying around a town, and not a single one of them being interactive. I too want to search every create, barrel, drawers, pots, clock (ooh, Elixer!), bookshelf, etc. I come across.

          I know the feeling!

I also hate the modern trend of all treasure chests containing useless junk, like an extra Phoenix Downs or something. Finding treasure chests should require some curiosity/exploration and they should contain something that's worth the effort.

This is all a symptom of mainstream RPGs becoming too entangled with cinema in which linear progression from point A to point B constitutes most of the game. Good thing modern battle systems beat most of those of the past any day.

Okay, unless you're really good and never have to revive someone, I don't see Pheonix Downs being useless. There's always a monster that hits you with a deadly cheap attack if you're not paying enough attention.

In FFs, you're usually drowning in Phoenix Downs. And monsters that are truly cheap are few and far between.

If you want to examine mundane things, play Shenmue.

                GUH.

Suikoden II tricked me. In towns, you can examine everything, but when I wasn't getting any items out of it, I stopped doin' it. But it turned out that the handiest Rune in the game is just in some barrel on a pier. D'oh.
