    different formats

hey check this out this came in to my mid last night after fighting with my ex girlfriend about stupid stuff (ya long story):

is it possible to covert games made on the console rpg makers to a form where with the right settings I can convert it to my psp and play it that way?
I mean if I can put emulators on the psp why not the games made with rpg maker right?

I only play RPGM1 games on my PC

Although there is a way of putting psx gaems on the PSP I have no idea how would would go about converting the actual game files.

However if anyone knows this answer I would like to know as well.

        Re: different formats

I though it was illegal only if you didnt own the actual game (in this case rpg maker)
I guess that blows my theory out of the water.

ePSXe is a legal emulator(I think) because you need to get your PS1's BIOS settings from the console, and the only way you could run that on your PSP is if you ripped the RPG Maker game to an ISO file and the PSP actually accepted it.

I dont know anything about PSP's by the way, so I might not make any sense at all.

            Re: different formats

I thought epsxe was legal too.
oh but thats not a problem I can get my friend to hack that for me.
I was just wondering because If we can use it in the psx, ps2, and even the ps3 format. why not psp. that would save me on my online hunt for a dexdrive and that would be an awesome way for game sharing (for people who own PSPs)

talking about copying RPG Maker software to anything that isnt the original disc it shipped on is forbidden here. so lets avoid that part.

what you're asking (just taking the game made with RPG Maker and running that on a PSP) is impossible because the games as saved on memory cards are just sets of instructions for the RPG Maker software to follow. the graphics, game engine, and sounds are not stored on the memory card.

                  whoops sorry about that then.
I can see what youre saying.
I'm gonna check ebay and see how much they want a dexdrive for?
should I search for anything in particular, not just dexdrive I'm sure. any specific keywords to search for?

                    Re: different formats

Dex Drives will only work with PS1 saves, so RPG Maker 1.

Max Drives (or Action Replay Max EVO) are needed for PS2 saves, which would be RPG Maker 2 and 3.

Max Drives don't work with PS1 saves.

                        Re: different formats

yup. Just know in advance that the dex drive software is on two floppy discs, and the hardware itself requires a 9-pin serial port.

if you don't have a floppy drive, we have a version of the software for download here in our tools section, but it doesnt work with all dex drives.

Before I forget, legal-wise, if you took a ps1 game that you owned, ripped it to an iso, and then somehow got it onto the PSP, is that legal or illegal? Always been curious.

                          Don't copy that floppy!

perfectly Legal. because you actually own the game.
