    I'm a sucker for dissapointment

I haven't enjoyed one of these games, since--I don't even know. Wild Arms 5 came out less than a year ago and I hated it.

But this makes me want to throw my money away.

Wheeee! Let's play 'milk a franchise for all it's worth!'
Without darkness, how would you know there is light?

most game companies do that, it's what makes money.

also, this looks like the bastard child of disgaea and ff tactics.
which I guess makes it a handsome bastard child.

Man, Wild Arms used to have a cool art direction before they turned SUPER WEEABOO SHONEN with Wild Arms 4. Now I can barely look at it without making a ^_^ face.

I'll probably end up buying this only because I'm a sucker for tactical games.

...why doesn't Atlus bring over Super Robot Taisen portable?

Because of all the copyrights involved.

They brought over two GBA titles. What would make a PSP title different?

The GBA ones only used Banpresto's own characters.

Pretty sure any possibility of Atlus bringing over another is gone too, with Namco-Bandai absorbing Banpresto.

Hah, more proof that the PSP is the best system ever for fans of SRPGS. I need this, but I also need Trials and Tribulations AND Apollo Justice. Poor DS is so lonely, haven't played it since Days of Ruin xD.

If you ignored the hokey friends can do anything blather WA5 wasn't that bad. I'll be picking this up.
The Cyclops having only one eye, needed to seek shelter from the harsh sun. The shadow cast by the spheres gave him temporary respite.

I did manage to have some fun with WA5, I was just... expecting more. For some reason.

Fun Fact: The storyline of WA5 was penned by an accomplished japanese novelist.

I kept getting lured back to this series for some reason. I've decided at this point that I'm not falling for it again.

Re: I'm a sucker for dissapointment

Wild Arms 4 was better than Wild Arms 5.

The Wild Arms series has always been a shoebox diarama version of Final Fantasy. WA copied FFVI, WA2 copied FFVII and FFVIII, and WA3 copied FFX all in one way or another

With WA4 they had no budget or ideas for anything, so they were just like, "**** it, let's just throw every cliche in a pot and cross our fingers." It had ****ing everything - evil brothers, evil fathers, good guys who are bad guys who are good guys again, believing in friendship, hometowns that are obliterated, ancient technology, ancient weapons of destiny, corrupt militaries, corrupt military freight trains, EXPLODING corrupt military freight trains, super secret corrupt military task forces with superhuman abilities - I don't know what else. It was a joke, but it didn't really matter. It was like Hot Shots: Part Deux; it knew exactly what it was.

Wild Arms 4 set up a super cliche-filled world where you expect cliches. What sucks about Wild Arms 5 is that the world is actually kind of interesting, and there's this possibility of an interesting story - I mean, I think a wild west world being subjugated by aliens is pretty interesting. So when it suddenly starts dumping all of these cliches on you about five~ten hours in, you'd probably get pretty damn ******.

I mean, Greg seems like a damn interesting character for a little while. My favorite scene in the game is the flashback where Kartikeya kills his son in front of him and then lambastes him for being unable to protect his kid. And then he kills his wife. I was like, "Wow, this guy is way better than Albedo." I didn't realize the comparison to Xenosaga was so apt at the time.

So Greg really wants to kill this guy - I mean, like, hardcore revenge. And it turns out the only thing that can stop him is a spunky teenager.

Dean: Hey, Greg, don't do revenge! It'll just make your heart cold and dark and stuff!
Greg: WELL SHUCKS I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT

                            [/PUBLISHED NOVELIST]

And I find it funny that despite all its cliches, WA4's ending is much more poignant thant WA5's, even if it is just an American Graffiti ripoff.

To me, WA4's world is just more consistent than WA5's. That's really important to me.

Jesus Christ, why did I write all that.

That said, this game doesn't look terrible. Someone was using a hookshot or something in one of those clips? That's interesting.

I just bought Wild Arms 5 last week on a lark. There wasn't anything else in the store that was of interest to me.

I've only played it for 3 hours or less(Getting to know Dragon Quest VIII and Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams again), but my first impression is I CAN'T LOSE! PEOPLE ARE DEPENDING ON ME!!
