    What should my next game be for?

    I'm in the market to start my "Anubis Conflict" game now, since my side project is out of the way...most know its a "modern espionage"-type game and will require a lot of stealth and modern-type stuff...so which RPG Maker would this sit best with?

    RPG Maker 1
    PROS:I'm extremely fluent with this maker, used it for 4 years before I found RPGM3.
    CONS:I dont have a dex drive yet.

    RPG Maker 2
    PROS:Ive played a little of this and have basic knowledge of how to make a game.
    CONS:Still very inexperienced with this title.

    RPG Maker 3
    PROS:I'm very fluent with this maker.
    CONS:None besides the lack of "modern" graphics.

      How do you make it compatible? Just dont add any custom sprites or anything?

        If it's modern/espionage then I'd say go with 2 because you'll have a lot more freedom with it. If you know how to use it.

          I would love to see it on 3 so I could play it, but it sounds like 2 would be the best bet for a modern game.

            1 has a lot of future-type things in it, I was heavily thinking about that, plus as RD said it can be played through ePSXe, I dont know much about RM2 and I dont really want the game to suffer because of it.

            Right now its sitting at RM2 though, but with only a few votes I'll let this pan out a little farther though.

              I side with Lausen on this one. I would love to see it for 3, but in order to get modern style graphics, you'd have to use up tons of memory just to "create" the look you want in 3. I must say though that those original discussion threads regarding Anubis Conflict for RPG Maker 3 were a lot of fun.

              RPG Maker 1 sounds like a really good fit for you JPS since you already have so much experience with it, but I chose 2 because I don't own a Dex Drive...selfish, I know.

                Not selfish, its what I want to hear, the people who were interested in this game before are going to be the ones who vote in this thread, and thats my target audience.

                I wasnt expecting people to vote for a maker they dont have though

                  I would go with RPGM2, but you have little experience with it. This maker would probably be the only one that would work out will adding stealth and modern ****. However, it takes a lot of work with scripting to allow stealth which would make things difficult for a newbie. The good news is that with the VFX editor you can create about any futuristic thing you want. I would suggest checking out Rodak's guide. The link is in his sig.

                    I voted RPGMaker 1, since you have most experince with it. Go with what you know.

                      I'd say Rpg Maker 1 definately.
                      You dont need a dexdrive right away. just get one when you can.
                      I'll play your game as soon as I get a dex drive and rpg maker 1 again (which is all in the works right now).
                      that one was my favorite of them all.
                      rpg maker 1 forever!
                      however you can do a lot more when it comes to code in rpg maker 2...

                          [EDIT] To stay on topic i'll put in my two cents.

                          I say RM1. You are well experienced with the software, so you will be able to get the best out of it, and be more true to your vision. Your only con is that you don't have a dex drive yet. Not a problem since you will have plenty of time to get one. It will take upwards of a year to finish the game and I'm sure you can acquire a Dex Drive by then.

                            I think I'll be going with 1.

                            I really want to do it with 2 but I know my game will suffer because of my level of experience with it.

                              Changing it to 3...I know I know everyone says one, but really, how many people has a dex drive over a max? I dont want to make a game some of you have been looking forward to only to make it with a game none of you have.

                              So 3 it is, yay for going against the grain...
