    Money

Bah. Why must it sometimes be so difficult to obtain? And why must everything cost so much? I've been saving up for the Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition for a little over a month now, and guess what happened? I downloaded the trial for RPG Maker VX, is what happened. I want this more than I want to eat.

            Re: Money

Because this is the last time Ill see $700 for a while

Ill probably end up paying an extra car payment this paycheck also.

If I had the extra money to throw around I would, but then everyone would want me to buy them something.

So since the english version is out now for VX, and Im sure Valk has played it, would it be still better to get XP over VX?

How much longer does XP have before it loses support?

                    Re: Money

XP isn't prettier world map-wise. I went into VX and didn't have to mess with layers, and I didn't have to Playtest to get a good look at what everything'd look like. Well, I could go on, but I won't. To sum it up, the maps are prettier. o.O

                      Re: Money

pretty refers to graphics, and XP has VX beat in that category. VX's characters are smashed, and the areas look blocky and primitive unless you tear into RGSS2.

                      look at this mess:
                      http://tkool.jp/products/rpgvx/eng/1-1.jpg
Yeah, those sharp corners everywhere are awesome. so are the characters that barely even have bodies.

                      then look at this:
                      http://tkool.jp/products/rpgxp/eng/capt06.gif
                      look! bodies!

XP can also use cany size character sprites and any size tile set you want to throw at it.

So since the english version is out now for VX, and Im sure Valk has played it, would it be still better to get XP over VX?
I'll always stand by my opinion that VX is ****. XP has a long life ahead of it still.

Based on the above screens, I have to say that VX is an inferior product.

                          Re: Money

I didn't even notice that the characters were practically heads. I played the XP trial and basically the only comparison I was making was map-making. I like some of the tiles in VX and layers bugged me a bit when I first played XP. That's all I was saying.

                          Good argument though, Valk.

really though, neither RPG Maker would be a bad buy. you just buy the one that suits your needs. you liked the way VX handled, so you'd be justified in getting VX.
