how did I only hear about this today?
Imagi, the guys who made TMNT (which I thought was pretty good), are the ones behind it, and Freddie Highmore is going to voice Astro Boy.
on the one hand, another damn movie based on an old property.
on the other hand...


oh well. I am very excited.

edit: or I was until I found out that the guy who wrote it is the guy who wrote Space Jam. what the h.

The only episode I've seen of the series is the very first episode of the original Astro Boy, showing why he was made.

I liked the CG TMNT film. But a writer from space jam? Eww.

Astro Boy's first episode is the only one I saw too and I thought it was great, weird and charming. Astrooooo~ touch my buuuutt~~

I dunno how they're gonna translate Osamu Tezuka's genius to mass American audiences but here's hoping.

And we already got a near perfect update to one of Osamu Tezuka's properties.

I don't think the writer of Space Jam can due any justice to Tezuka's genius. MW and Ode to Kirihito are masterpieces.

I thought the TMNT movie was great. it captured all of the characters so perfectly. Leonardo was conflicted, wanting to be a good brother and a good leader, Raphael was brooding and dark, Donatello and Michelangelo... well, I never really cared much for them.

yeah, the story was a little lacking. but that rooftop battle in the rain? ****ing awesome. and the animation was really good, too.
