Look, I'm really going out on a limb here, but is VX going to be made solely for Windows Vista?

I heard they were realising two editions. But what do I know...

There is a Japanese Version out now (and possibly an English translated trial version) and the story reads that the trial will be free, but limited as far as switches and distribution of created games is concerned. If you buy it you are seemingly only limited by your imagination, your harddrive size and the five tilesets limit.
I think maybe I should rephrase my original question: What does the "VX" stand for? I was thinking "15" like in Roman numerals (but isn't that "XV"?) because we might be up to fifteen of these by now, but I dunno...

You can find the Japanese trial version here (http://www.rpgrevolution.com/download/RPG-Maker-VX,1).
No sign of the English version even though it's suppose to be out Feb 29 at the latest.
I think VX must stand for Vista XP, an indication that those are the two versions of Windows the program will work with.

I would be shocked if VX actually stood for anything.

Did the XP in RPG Maker XP have a meaning?
Valkysas

Probably the same as Windows XP, which somehow stands for Experience.

VX is roman numerals for the number 5 DUH!
V = 5
X = 10
5 + 10 = 15
That was my logic, but RNs usually run the other way: XV = 15
...hence my original question.
On another note, thanks to all who tried so valiently to answer my question!
VX is 510...come on people, its basic roman mathematics:lol
Now that Valk is hosting XP and VX games I might get this.
Now heres a conspiracy theory, VX=5-10, VX was released in Japan in 2007, 10 years ago from that date RPG Tsukūru 3 came out for the PS1, 5 years ago from 2007 RPG Tsukūru 5 came out for the PS2...if we follow the sequence of numbers 5-10-15, the next console game should be RPG Tsukūru 7 for the PS3 in 2012.
Wherever RPG Tsukūru 6 went I don't know, but conspiracy theories are known to have holes and are denied they do fiercely by their followers

Just download the trial.
I wonder how upset the japanese users are, paying $100 for this thing, and just a few months later it being released in the US for $60.

WAIT! Your getting it all wrong! Roman Numerals work like this: If there is a smaller number before a bigger number, subtract it from the bigger number. If there is a smaller number after the bigger number, add it to the bigger number!
SO, since V=5 and X=10 VX=5. It would make more since to just make it "RPG Maker V" but I'm guessing that either the stupid Japanese (Or whatever they are) people don't understand Roman Numerals, or they thought VX sounds better than V. Most likely the latter...
Oh and by the way, for all of you that didn't understand what I just said at all: RPG Maker VX=RPG Maker 5...
PS: RPG Maker XP OBVIOUSLY means that it is for Windows XP!
There problem solved!:D

RPG Maker 5 was for the PS2. we know it as RPG Maker 2.
RPG Maker VX is not trying to use VX as a roman numeral.
RPG Maker XP also works on Windows 98, and Me. It is not "for" Windows XP.

You only subtract numbers in roman numerals if theres an "I" before the letter.
Only I's, nothing else works.
VX in roman numerals is wrong, the bigger number is always in front, like you said, so it would be XV.
Plus VX being roman numerals is just a joke, I dont believe you took it seriously:(
Now, time to go download the trial:)
