I,m new to this site so just bear with me. I had an idea for using the rpg maker 2 software to create a final fantasy tactics style battle system. I have been able to make battle maps and monsters for the system. I need a lot of help with the scripting. if anyone has any idea please help me.

How well do you understand the script commands and variables in RPG Maker 2?
It is very, very hard to do a tactical game in RPG Maker 2. The only person to attempt it never got a working demo finished because the scripting took so much time. I highly suggest you give up on the idea unless you have a strong understanding of computer programing principles and have lots of free time to devote to this. Even then, there are probably better things you can spend your time on.

thank you i was thinking of that would be a waste of time. now i was wondering if there was a way of making the characters that are out on the field be battle oppents in the default battle system like how you can in rpg maker 3.

Sorry, the field characters and the Battle characters are completely separated in RPG Maker 2. Your only real option is to create VFX characters. That can be as easy as placing a weapon VFX as a character or as hard as twisting the various VFX elements together into a character.

Yes, Dark Horizons is the current expert on VFX character creation. You can see his designs here:

i was able to figure how to do my idea all you have to do is take a snap shot of one of the character models. than use the vfx to be able to use ur snap shoot. then finally use the enemy action field to edit the pic but you need to make the enemy model invisible. that is just the fast of explaioning thank you for all of ur help.

I suppose if you don't mind the enemy looking like a flat image, that trick will work.
