I have a friend I've known for a few years online and have met a couple times. I just found out he has the HIV and he's 22. It wasn't some freak occurrance...it was through unprotected sex. He admits it was foolish and is now taking the appropriate actions.

It boggles my mind how much some people think "that'll never happen to me" or "oh, I trust this person cuz they say they're clean." Sexual education in this country has only gone backwards, and it seems most people think this could never happen to them. God people are dumb.

I just needed to vent. That's all.

I attribute it a bit more to the lack of wisdom of youth that a lack of education. A lot of younger people think "that'll never happen to me" about a LOT of things. Adolescents and young adults have a natural tendancy to do insanely stupid things.

It also doesn't help that our popular culture finds it appropriate to humiliate people for not engaging in a lot of sexual activity too. As a result, people are less worried about getting STDs, unplanned pregnancies or other negative than being made fun of because they're not getting any. And the opposite side, that is the religious loonies who think everyone's just going to engage in marital sex if they're properly "educated" isn't much better either.

Exactly, Abstinence Only Education obviously isn't working. Sure, the best way to make sure you won't get a sexually transmitted disease is never to give the disease a chance to transmit, but when you got the chance to get laid you're more than likely to take it.

AIDS doesn't actually kill in itself. It's an immune deficiency which means it makes it extremely easy for you to catch other illnesses and almost impossible for you to fight them off. I think Pneumonia developed from the common cold is the most common death due to AIDS.

I just recently found out a gay couple lived in the house right behind mine when they had a huge argument outside. The one guy didn't know the other had lied about being HIV- until he had caught it from him and then found a positive test hidden somewhere in the house. I also had a cousin that died of AIDS, he was straight but a junkie. He either got it from needles or from his girlfriend who I wouldn't be surprised to find out did lots of unsafe things for drug money.

What I should have said was 80% of marriages that end in divorce doesnt last longer then 10 years, however the chart proves that 100% of marriages that ends in divorce doesnt exceed 10 years...so if you hit the 10 year mark, youre virtually home free:lol

My parents luckily is still married after 24 years, my dad used to have a violent temper and she wanted to leave but when my mom started having a bunch of health issues I think it kind of hit him that she will be gone some day, now hes nice to her and everything and spends as much time with her as he can.

The bible says sex for pleasure is a sin and the only reason a man and a woman should have sex is for strictly procreation purposes, anything else is a sin.

People don't judge the catholic church by the few priests that did it, they judge the church on the several parishes that just covered it up and moved the priests to new places over the years. It was as if they had a policy of letting the priests get away with it.

As someone who was exposed to recent Sex Ed methods, I think to main problem is that pople just don't take these lessons seriously. Alotta people who were in my class were all BS-ing in this class, treating it like a "get outta class" card or something.

Also that study cant even be used as a viable means for your arguement, the only thing they did was let 3,000 men run around having sex with anyone for a year, it wasnt a controlled environment where each man slept with a specific number of women who had the virus.

Not exactly, there are people who do divorce after being married for a while, but I've always suspected the majority of them have been married under ten years. It's simple; I think a lot of these divoraces happen when the couples hit their first major crisis and fail to work it out together. They let the crisis destroy the relationship. They mustn't have been paying attention when the preacher, or justice of the peace, or that guy down in Vegas said "for better or for worse." And that's the worst part about it; one of the whole points of being married is to have someone to help you weather the crisis, not to make things worse.

The problem is it's not "really hard" as you say, just less likely. Under normal cicumstances with vaginal intercourse bodily fluids wouldn't pass from the woman to the man. But if you happen to have any scratches or abrasions on/around your penis or in your urethra then no safety net for you. Not to mention all the other STDs that you'd be unprotected against, and the ones you could pass on without even knowing it. Like HPV, a simple common virus that you can get through non-sexual transmission, often asymptomatic in men but causes cervical cancer to women. Also, if you don't want to have a baby any time soon a condom's a good idea for that too.
