View Full Version : Anyone else see the lunar eclipse?

Happened fairly quickly. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to see it happen since it was raining earlier, so there were a lot of clouds. The view was actually pretty clear until a little while ago, but I saw most of the moon fade away. Looked at it with binoculars, and looked pretty neat. Too bad my camera couldn't see too much of it.

Yeah, I watched it at 15 minute intervals. It looked almost as if another planet were passing over the moon. Only because the "eclipsed" side was still visible.

Nah, I'm more interested in the rocket they're supposed to be launching in a few minutes to try and blow up the space station that's going to kill us all.

Saw it for all of 30 seconds...then I walked my cold black ass back to the dorms.

What a coincidence....

As I was taking pictures around the apartment, I remembered the eclipse too and took a pic.

Yours is clearer than mine.

I was going to take a walk and see if I could watch it, but it was completely overcast here.

Thanks a lot, clouds!

Not me, Minnesota keeps having random cold bursts. Below zero is no fun. :<

I watched the majority of it and saw it the most when it was fully eclisped. It was neat.

If it is not windy, I recommend blowing bubbles outside.

wasnt that a spy satellite? either way that missile they fired cost 40million - what a waste, no way a piece of crap you blow up is worth 40 million.

But we stuck it to the Chinese. :(

Wasn't all that interested in it honestly. At least not enough to get my ass out into the cold. So I saw it on the news and went about my day.

Yes but we're also taking a country were the government will likely get sued for MORE than 40 million if a falling satellite hits the wrong person.

More likely though if it's a spy satellite, they're probably shooting it down because of something classified or other.

Same thing here in Wisconsin, way too cold. Besides, I was watching the McGyver episode of Mythbusters, AND posting here.

i was acually referring to the cost of the missile. 40million seems over priced for something you blow up. the satellite had to be demolished, even ignoring its spy nature, the thing had to go (i think they said it would most likely burn up in the atmosphere anyway but wanted to ensure it was toast).

on jps forum where we where guessing where it would land, i remarked that it would land on top of my car out of spite. i guess we will never know...

I didn't know there was an eclipse.

Then I saw a bunch of people gawking up at something and I was like "Pfft, gay tourists." But they kept gawking!

So I gawked too and was all, "Huh. Eclipse."

Then I went about my business.

Me and Kirin stood outside and watched the last bit o' sunlight flicker out. There was a bunch of people standing around the apartment complex, some of whom I never saw before. It was pretty crazy cool.

I tried to take some photos with an older camera using B&W film. Since the light was so low I had to prop it up against my car to keep the camera still for exposure. I hope at least one develops well enough to show, though it's doubtful since I didn't use a tripod.

I was at work overnight so I took the time to look at it a bit. Given the fact that the last Lunar eclipse which happened a few months ago was completely obscured by clouds, it was neat to see this one.

Thats ok, hopefully a chunk of the missile will still land on it in a few weeks when it stops hurdling through the sky at supersonic speeds:lol

My dad called me and said "Hey Dave go look outside there's an eclipse."

And I was like "K hang on. [Pause] Oh yeah! Wow that's cool! Thanks dad!"

And it was a nice father son moment.

Except I didn't actually go outside, I was just playing Halo 3.

Well I don't know how much you guys up in Canada know about it, but our military has a bad habit of overpaying for just about everything.

our military (can i even call them that?) has a bad habit of not spending any money. i bet we would salvage used parts if we could find a military dump site. a thrift goverment military supply store wouldnt do to badly here.

What does the spy satellite have anything to do with the eclipse, anyway?

I watched it until it went completely into the umbra and turned that copperish color. Then I realized it was eleven o'clock and I had school the next day.
