Alright, guys. I live in the middle of the woods on a 30 acre farm.
There's really no one around for miles and no real threat of heavy law enforcment.

So, I'm throwing a giant techno dance party/rave.

Now I just need some awesome ideas from you guys. Anything will do. From what to serve, what to do, lighting things up.

Don't forget- it lasts all night long. Really, all I got right now is BEER PONG!

Ideas?

be careful, even if no one is around, flashy lights may cause neighbors to call the police. sound does tend to travel too.

I've thrown a few of these type things myself (low-fi raves). My big thing was hooking up two camcorders, a bunch of monitors, a video switcher (keep in mind, this was probably close to 15 years ago now), and a few VCRs. What I did was run some footage from old silent movies, old commercials, footage I had already shot on camcorder, other random video footage, etc, into the switcher, and then ran the live feed from the camcorders into the switcher. While DJing, I would periodically switch the video image on the monitors between the live camcorder stuff, the old movie footage, and the pre-recorded camcorder stuff. In fact, at one of these "events," I ran audio from all four sources into a mixing board, along with any music or soundscapey stuff I played live on my keyboard/sequencer/sampler setup, and would switch the audio independently of the video...meaning, you might hear the audio from an old commercial, or the audio from the prerecorded camcorder stuff, but might be seeing something completely different on the monitor. I think I even had a minidisc full of samples from records, a record playe, and a CD player hooked up simultaneously as well. Literally, there were times where I had 4-5 audio sources playing all at once, and I would fade them in and out along with switching the video image (I think we had 3-4 monitors of all different sizes set up all around the room....it was kinda a downstairs warehouse type deal). Of course, we had about 4 speakers set up as well, and at times I would pan the audio to different speakers live while I was mixing the "music."

And then ,of course, we had the requisite strobe lights, blacklights, and a slide projector set up behind a big white sheet, so we could change to different random slides I had found at a thrift store...most of them were kind of abstract looking.

And I of course had another VCR recording this enire audio/video mix live to tape. When the 2 hours of recording was up, I took the tape out, and put itin the play deck of the other VCR, and played that instead of what was in there before, along with AGAIN running the original audio mix from the first recording (2 hours) of the party into the mixing board, and the video mix of the first 2 hours of the party into the video switcher, and then switched between this and the othe stuff, both in audio and video. That way, people would see themselves on the monitors, but it would not be live anymore, but instead would be what they were doing a few hours ago, along with switching (of course) to live camcorder footage.

A lot of this was obviously kinda experimental-type stuff (at one party we did, we even had a guy in one room set up a temporary tattoo shop), but we did play a few fairly standard "Dance Mix Techno Parties" as well, but with a similar setup. The most extreme of these prties took literally an entire day to set up (running cables, power, speaker wire, etc everywhere), but it was well worth it. So much so that late in the night, the cops busted our party (ww were just got told to shut down and go home....all the minors were taken to the station and their parents were called...but no one really got in trouble), and the cameras were still on and recording, so I have the bust on video, with all the cops was even close enough to the recording camcorder without even seeing it that you could plainly read his name and badge number.

This is what I would do in that situation. Then again, in this day and age, you could use a computer to do the same thing a lot more simply and efficiently.

Meh.

What? You're REALLY stumped? It's called sex, drugs and acid house tracks. DOESN'T THE PAVILION KNOW HOW TO THROW A PARTY ANYMORE!? :cry

It doesn't really matter how safe you are though. If the party's great, people will talk, older adults get nosy(especially the women), and people get called. As a matter of fact...

I vote to have all women over 26 with kids exiled from the US! Too many sex-addicted, drug-infested "cool mom" gatherings get ruined because of them! It's time to MAKE A STAND!!! >:

Um... you could always have strobe lights and naked twister.

I recommend Bassbin Twins, Rabbit in the Moon, Uberzone, Soul Oddity, and Phonecia. And lots of it. Really loud.

I'm a big fan of house and trance so I was thinking some stuff like Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Benni Benassi. Any other suggestions?
