    Resident Evil.

I was thinking of getting into the series.

    Yes, I am crazy, somewhat.

This actually got prompted by Starcraft, all those RE maps on there, and the desire to make my own... with my own story, a cross between RE and The House of the Dead 2.

Point is, I want to get into the series, and I need to pick a first title. My first choice would be an alleged remake of the original called Deadly Silence. Any other suggestions?

The gaiden game that was released for gameboy is hard to find but worth it. It's easly the best in the series.

Resident Evil 4 is a great game even if your not a Resident Evil fan.

2 and 4 are the staples.

Oh my god! You are so beautiful.
I had no idea how beautiful you were.

If you have a Wii or Gamecube, then get the Remake, then find yourself a PS2 and get the second game, and then you can decide from there to go to the other games, or skip straight to 4.

The DS Resident Evil isn't bad either.

              Wikipedia disagrees.

Also, I want to get the DS version (any portable, really) because I don't quite want the crap scared out of me yet, and it's harder to be scared when you're looking down on the action.

Wikipedia's an idiot then, because Deadly Silence is a port of the original with a few new features.

Actually, it says it's a port. I used "remake" because I didn't see the difference. Adding some touch features and other details qualifies as "remake" to me.

                    Re: Resident Evil.

I'm on a huge kick right now. I just bought Code: Veronica X on PS2 for 10 bucks used, the best part was that it turned out to be a brand new still shrink wrapped version.

I'm strongly considering buying the ports of RE 2 and 3, Valk, the DC versions are the best right?

2 and 3 both have a lot of stuff the PS1 and GC versions don't have. RE2 has concept art, movie viewer, and a model viewer. I forget what all RE3 has, but I know it has a crapload more costumes than the others.

Start with RE4 and then move to RE5 from that, the rest are poorly control schemed garbage =D

I knew RE4 would be recommended, and I must say that I'm not really interested in 4 much. Although, if I keep listening to that YouTube video, I might just be compelled to play it.

The only thing that really changed was the camera though, the controls are mostly the same.
