How I Spent My Valentines Day

So on Valentines day I had a teeth cleaning appointment with my dentist. That ended with a root canal and a wisdom tooth being removed.

My wisdom tooth was crunching into another tooth, but I never noticed it was happening because it wasn't causing me any pain. I was told that I had to get this done soon otherwise they'd have to remove both teeth rather than just the wisdom tooth. I told them to go ahead because I am off work this week anyway. As for the wisdom tooth, they had to break it into pieces while still in my jaw, and then grind some parts of it out and pull out other parts. The grinding practically burned my tooth right out of the socket.

As for the root canal, I had a tooth that crumbled under pressure from a pizza roll several years back. The skin grew over top of it so I thought it would be alright. They had to do a root canal on that. The funny thing is, that area isn't causing me any pain.

However, the right side of my face is swollen. It hurts to swallow, and the pain medication makes me sicker than I was without medication, so I'm dealing with the pain without pain meds. Go me!

Seriously, this sucks! The pain is starting to subside for now, however I'm hoping it doesn't come back. The pain went away for an hour once just to come back worse.

    That's lame.

If you can, take the pain meds with food or a meal. That might help your stomach.

I didn't eat for five days after I got my wisdom teeth out. I usually don't get bothered by pain (having had about five major dental surgeries in my life), but I think they got part of my jaw.

Yeah, I did that, but that's not what I meant when I said sick. I took my last pain pill an hour or two before bed, and ended up completely restless and panicky. At one point I was pacing the floor for no reason, and I got almost no sleep. So to hell with those pain meds.

And I drink lots of pop. I don't drink caffiene at all though (I completely gave that up last August and haven't had any since) however now I'm drinking caffiene free Pepsi and I drink it way too often. I wish there was something else I could drink that was cheap and has good flavor. I love Hawaiian Punch, but that has alot of sugar

And Pepsi doesn't . Apple juice is fairly cheap, and Minute Maid Fruit Punch is even cheaper. Lemonade is also fairly cheap, especially the mix. The later two are only slight better for you than Soda, but at least they're not carbonated or caffeinated.

I remember when I had my wisdom teeth pulled about 6 months ago (all four of them, and two were impacted). My head looked like an eggplant, and the vikaden(sp?) made so constepated I didn't poo for a week, stopped taking that! It also made me ill. I missed a week of school, f*n sucked.

P.S. The vikaden was a generic called Hydrocodone.

When I had my wisdom teeth taken out (in British Columbia, they do not gas you out, you are completely awake for the whole procedure) I found the pain bearable.

WHat got me was my stomach- not because of the pills they gave me (no Vicodin or anything of the sort) it was because all my food was mashed, or a jelly, or liquid. Because I was forced to be on a liquid diet all of a sudden, the stomach acid built up in my stomach and gave me cramps, gas, and heartburn for 4 days.

What I meant was that if I was going to stop drinking so much Pepsi, I might as well get a replacement drink that is lower in sugar while I'm at it.

Yeah, Vicodin sucks. It made it hard for me to go as well. Since I stopped taking it I'm all better in that department now.

They didn't gas me out but they numbed my jaw when they did it. They want me to be on a liquid diet too, but I'm already having Ravioli. Screw them, I'll eat what I want!

Anyway I still have pain but thankfully its lesser so now than it was, I hope it goes away completely soon.
