...Interesting title, Magus.

Harrison doesn't talk like he's 60 in the trailer...shocking.

It's about time, I hope Lucas doesn't **** this up.

Yeah, this can be a real hit and miss. But I have confidence.

I just hope they don't go over the top which has ruin many movies. Yes Die Hard, I am looking at you!

You guys are all so negative. You can't ever judge a movie until you've seen it. I kinda like Shia. He'll probalbly get arrested in this movie like all the others he's in though.:lol

Chrono

And probably say no (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IXCK1EyP4s) a thousand times. Actually I've grown to like him over his past few movies. Plus he's playing Yorick in the Y: The Last Man trilogy

I trust Ford.

I don't like Shia.

Lucas better not go overboard with the CG effects.

George Lucas isn't the director. I somehow doubt he's more involved than just putting his seal of approval on it at the end of the day.

Was it confirmed? He didn't sound all that interested in doing it when he was offered the part.

Why would he sound interested? He's Shia LeBeouf.

He's always involved in the stories.

Shia and Lucas will totally be the scapegoats for this one.

Not set in stone but it looks like it will happen. (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=6733)

Lucas is the reason why this movie wasn't made 4 years ago, He could never agree on a script with Spielberg.

Denmo

I betcha it was really Spielberg who couldn't agree on a script with Lucas.

So far Dr. Pepper and Tony the Tiger did the Raiders of the Lost Ark idol bit.

Just saw the midnight showing.

Overall, it was a return to the old school, and Ford did not disappoint.

However, and this is MAJOR:

The ending will make you feel gipped of the perfect sequel. Lucas is a bastard, and once you see this film, you'll agree with me.

Gophers.

Monkeys.

Psychic Aliens.

The more I think about the ridiculousness of this movie, the more I dislike it. It's a fun romp but... man. They pulled way too many ludicrous plot devices on this one.

No way, Temple of Doom was fun.

Now I won't see this one. |:3

Nixon

Temple of Doom was embarrassing to watch, especially if you liked the first movie. Magic stones... short round... mola ram... ugh.

You movie snobs sure enjoy some bad movies.

John Mora
05-22-2008, 10:49 AM
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a classic. Even if it has silly stuff like the banquet and Spielberg's wife, it has awesome parts like the sacrificial pit and the mine carts. The mine carts are a part of cinematic history, there's no disputing that. Every single f-ing mine cart sequence in a movie since then has been trying to capture the same magic. Hell, Resident Evil 4 did the friggin' mine carts.

Also, it's sort of stupid to gripe about magic stones when the first movie had a MAGIC BOX.

Dreamknight
05-22-2008, 10:55 AM
I've never seen an Indiana Jones movie all the way through, huzzah!!

Nixon
05-22-2008, 10:58 AM
It's classiclly bad, you mean. It's pure cheese, perfect for the 80's. Great action scenes can't save the rest of the film. The mine carts... wow. Yeah, I sure want to see more mine cart action in my movies. :run

The nazis are still more believeable than MOLA RAM and his army of idiots.
*rips out Mora's still beating heart*

AWWWWWWWWW YEAH! This is cinema!

John Mora
05-22-2008, 11:02 AM
Well then leave it for the rest of us. }:3

And I noticed you didn't try to refute the point about the magic box!

Nixon
05-22-2008, 11:09 AM
It was a small gripe compared to the rest of the crap in that movie. But if you want to nit-pick some more, I'm game.

One magic box > a bunch of magic stones

Any more nits?

John Mora
05-22-2008, 11:14 AM
Nope, all picked!

I guess aliens are the logical follow up to Jesus Christ.

SirTMagus

Temple of Doom is way, way, way, way, way, way, way more watchable than Kingdom of the Crystal Junk. At least Doom was scary when I was younger. Guy ripping out hearts? That ****'s cool. The new movie has nothing close to that level of interest.

And really? No love for the opening jazz club sequence?

AT CLUB OBI-WAN?

I'm going to see it tonight with some friends, cuz I like to make my own opinions about things, and not have the internet do it for me. Whoo!

Nixon
05-22-2008, 03:55 PM
This movie doesn't seem very promising to me. I figured that out before reading this topic, or anything else on the internet. The trailer gave me plenty of hints.

That being said, it's nice to hear from the movie nerds, too (although their tastes in movies are very suspect). :P

Chrono
05-22-2008, 04:02 PM
There are seriously aliens in this?...Does it just imply it or does it actually show them?...God ****ing pieces of ****.

Oh, can you believe Lucas wanted this movie to be more zany. I don't see how it can be more ridiculous then Doom, but I'll see tonight.

Caciss
05-22-2008, 04:04 PM
I saw it at midnight and it was pretty good overall, I think, but god damn there were some ****in' retarded parts.

And also...

yes, they show them

Fun fact:

You could see Belize very clearly labelled on the traditional world map scene as they travelled to Nazca, Peru.

But in the time period the movie was set in, my country was known as "British Honduras", not "Belize".

WRONG!

Anyway, the movie was okay. I felt that too much happened too quickly, but that seems to happen with a lot of movies these days. "Squeeze in as much as possible" seems to be their tantra. I still enjoy Raiders and Last Crusade the most.

And Shia swinging around with a gang of monkeys AND catching up to the car chase? Um....right.

SirTMagus

Too much CGI, not enough practical effects.

Biggie
05-23-2008, 01:00 AM
I'm glad I read the spoilers, I'm not seeing this garbage.

I read that George Lucas's original idea a few years ago was Indiana Jones and the Invasion of the Martian Men. I guess that Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford didn't like it all so they didn't do it.

But they ****ing lied when I read that.

Duel
05-23-2008, 01:02 AM
So if they didn't use much of the CGI and removed the *spoilz* things, would we be looking at a damn good masterpiece?

This movie was ****ing terrible....

Surviving a nuclear blast by hopping in a fridge, flying at least a couple hundred yards, bouncing (more like slamming) twice on the ground before rolling to a stop and not so much as a scratch? Are you goddamn kidding me? I'm all for suspension of disbelief but there's a limit.
