What happen to secondary features on FPS?

It seems that more and more new FPS games are lacking secondary features on their guns...

Maybe it is just me, but I have felt that this was the greatest inovation.

My favorite examples of secondary features would have to be Unreal Tornament 1.

Rocket Launcher, and the needle gun had some great secondary features.

Rocket Launcher shoots rocket, hold, and shoots all 6 six at once. But seconard feature allows you to shoot them in a line at once.

I want the return of secondary features.

DUDE. Good point! I didn't even think of that. I remember how in Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, each weapon had two uses to it. The Rail Gun was great.

We're talking about FPS's here. The bane of originality. Such originality, as displayed in the aforementioned games, was purged by the FPS collective.

TimeSplitters 3 has secondary features for some of its weapons. Like the rocket launcher shooting several rockets at once, a sniper eyepiece and silencer for one of the handguns, a shield for one of the futuristic weapons, and an optional secondary laser for one of the laser guns that bounces off walls.

yeah, Half Life 2 was a swamp of unorginality and i dunno, retardedness.

I liked HL2 a lot, but I would say most HL2 fans are total idiots. I'm just waiting for more serious mods to come out, mods made HL what it was, and with any luck, HL2 will follow suit.

Believe me, Half-Life 2 is wanted in thirty-seven states by the FPS Collective. I know this because I'm keeping it safe here in my house--*Door swings open* No! Get outta here, Half-Life 2! Nooo--*Gets mowed down by gunfire*

                  Me neither.

And I've yet to properly play Half-Life 2.

There needs to be an FPS revolving around cucumbers and rubber bands. Especially rubber bands. Games don't have enough rubber bands.

No luv fo' da rubbah bands, yo! Don' be hatin'!

                        I thought HL2 sucked

I actually liked Doom 3 a lot more, but until people become saavy with that engine the mod community for HL is unrivaled.

I really like what I played of Counter-Strike: Source. That game's deep and gooey, like Halo. Mmmmm.

But how could HL2 suck? I'd appreciate a spoiler-free explanation.

It has nice graphics, obviously that's what makes a game bad.
