Sins of a Solar Empire Released!

Woo hoo! I didn't realize it was out until I saw it at Wal*Mart(*spit*) today. For those of you who know and love GalCiv2, it (sins) was made by the same company/team. For those of you who know nothing of either game, check it out here.

What do you guys think of it? Excited?

Is this that game that Tycho over at Penny Arcade has been raving about?

I know it's the game that I've been raving about.

Anyways, it's definitely different than GalCiv2... much much different. I don't even want to call it a 4x. It shares many similarities to the genre, but it's not as deep or involving. Don't assume that this makes the game lame because it's actually pretty fun. Think of it as a longer version of Homeworld without the stupid control setup. It plays out like a standard RTS but combat actually has some tactical merit to it and the game is about smart playing by building up your culture and snatching up planets at your earliest convenience.

Also, the soundtrack is epic. Really, really epic. I'm disappointed there are no real land battles (Imperium Galactica, we miss you) but that's only a minor complaint.

I'm totally getting it the moment I get my new computer, which wont be for many monts unfortunately. The wait will merely highten the experience, right? Atleast it will be cheaper and I won't have it sitting on my shelf for months taunting me, like Oblivion (I've had that since the release and haven't played it yet!)

All that I've heard about this game is that if you want to play, you better have the next 4-5 hours clear.
            (not because you'll be addicted)

GalCiv2 is no different, except that addiction keeps you from saving and continuing it the next day
