I hate it. shoulder button placement is terrible, and it looks like it'd be really uncomfortable to hold. not to mention just as prone to scratching as the current model. the addition of a major moving part like the sliding controller would make it pretty fragile too.

          functionality aside, it looks cool.

That's not a mod, that's just a concept. It looks cool but that's not going to happen.

I like how it adds the really needed Right Analog Stick, but other than that...

Id love if they just took a dual shock controller, chopped it in half, and jammed an LCD screen in between the halves. The PSP is already big and weird enough to not be all that portable, so go all out and make it for comfort. But thats never gonna happen, so bleh.

Did you guys see the mock up for a DS lite "compact" redesign? Also cool looking but completely impractical.

                    Re: Fan Modded PSP

It looks more like a portable DVD player than a handheld game machine. The PSP's screen is actually pretty durable but I can imagine this thing getting some nasty scratches. And how do you hold it without it sliding down the palm of your hand?

If I had mad 3D skills I would make better looking designs!

The PSP 2k is as big and heavy as a checkbook, and can easily fit in my pocket. I don't see it as enormous or clunky.

                        very un-ergonomic.

thumbsticks in a bad place, shoulder buttons made even more awkward than most shoulder buttons already are, and i guarantee that just using that d-pad would be problematic- the bottom edge of the screen is too close.

                          Re: Fan Modded PSP

Err... I use my PSP as a portable MP3 player every day.

However I have huge pockets as well, so I can fit my headphones.

That concept on the first post is pretty rad. Seems it would be more comfortable if the control portion could expand out to feel less like a GBASP.

looks a lot like the gameboy SP that everybody loved so much, except wider. and it slides instead of flipping.

I hated the SP, so I never got one. too damn cramped.
