Yesterday was the end of an era. After 26 years, we finally had to say goodbye to our GE microwave, but not because it no longer worked. It worked fine, even if it did take a few extra minutes to heat things. My brother brought home his microwave from his apartment(he's moving home because he's not very good at living by himself) and it is just a normal $100 microwave with the rotating plate and all, but it does cook things much faster, so we put the other microwave in the trash.
Still, I'm going to miss our old microwave. The thing was older than me, and it still worked! I was always amazed by the endurance of that microwave. It survived being dropped twice and about ten "metal" scare with sparks shooting all around inside of it. Man, they just don't make stuff like they used to. I would be surprised if this new microwave lasts five years.
