Post the last game you bought, how much it cost, and what you would rank it out of 10.

Mine:

Title: Timesplitters 2
Cost: $14.99
Rank: 9.6/10

I liked it so much that I decided to put down money for Timesplitters: Future Perfect already. Then, last Sunday, my file for TS2 got corrupted and I lost all of my progress. I'm still trying to go back to the game. I love the game, I hate my misfortune.

Phantom Brave
Cost: $14.99
Rank: I ordered it off the net, and it hasn't arrive yet... I'll let you know when it gets here.

Since I haven't played that one yet, I'll go to second to last:

Grandia II
Cost: Free - x-mas gift
Rank: 9.0 so far

It's really good if not a little basic. Still, I like it a lot. I wish they used more VOs but I like the classic feel.

MGS3 is pretty much better than the first two, but that's just me. Although Paul DOES agree with me.

Anyway:

Armored Core: Formula Front

Price: approximately SR 275 (Games and game consoles in KSA are quite pricey, as they're usually based off the black market price)

Lots of fun, in spite of my lack of Japanese comprehension (The "Lectures" are useful as hell). I was able to get the hang of the menus with little trouble.

The last game I bought was DOA:U for 30 bucks, and I'd give it a 9/10. It was awesome, same as DOA always was, but with an amazing online interface (well...not as amazing has halo 2).

However, the last game I came to "own" is MGS3, which I borrowed from a friend, I'd give it a 7/10, my original prediction for the game was right, in that I didn't think the mostly corridor based gameplay of the first 2 wouldn't translate into the wide open jungle well. Awesome boss fights, though....I guess.

LOZ: The Minish Cap for GBA
Cost: $48.99 CAD (I am Canadian)
Score: 9/10

It was great to see a Zelda game use so many of the old tools from past Zeldas as well as include a few new ones. The little Minish comunities set in the world of humans was cool since you could switch from one to the other fairly easily.

Before that, I got MGS3, and the multilayered ending has to be the coolest seen in any video game. There is some real tention and drama in the last boss battle. Very well done.

Hasn't it been 5 years?

Aren't you bombarded by the limitations of this generation by now?

What limitations? I don't think we've come close to them. Or at least if we have, we havn't been actually limited to them. Maybe it's just the fact that they started talking about the next gen consoles already two years ago that has me feeling like it's going to quickly.

Also I share Magus's concerns about a Playstation 3. I don't want to pay $500 bucks for anything unless it will last longer than me. But I'll probably get one because I follow Final Fantasy. I never thought I'd say this but I kind of wish they'd switch to the Gamecube.

And as a last point I do hold out hopes that maybe with a new console game makers will stop putting stupid gotta catch them all gameplay in their games. I F'ING HATE YOU GUYS!!!

Agreed, agreed, agreed. No more monster collecting. Please. God. Thank you.

Resident Evil 4 proved the Gamecube's got a LOT (A LOT, A LOT) OF LIFE left in it. I just wish someone other than Capcom and Nintendo could do something about that. Games like MGS3 and Wanda and the Colossus and FF12 prove that the PS2 (though technologically limited perhaps) can be home to some wonderful art. And I just got XBox Live dammit.

So, please, companies. Hold off on your PS3s and Revolutions and Xcrements. We just don't need them yet.

Mortal Kombat Deception was the most recent game I bought. I give it a 10/10. This is not the same Mortal Kombat crap that we've been wading through the last few years, Deception and even Deadly Alliance threw the old gameplay of MK completely in the trash and started over. There is almost nothing carried over from the old games to the new, completely reinvented and rejuvinated, this game rocks! I have yet to play another fighting game on this level.

Xenosaga, the best RPG ever released hands down. I love it love it love it. 10/10.

I had a crap load of EB Gift Cards, and because of the one of the discounts (Buy one, Get one half off; Used games only) I managed to get a lot of games cheap. Got 8 games and only paid $90 thanks to my $110 in gift cards. And these are all recent, bought mid-late January.

Ratchet & Clank/Going Commando/Up Your Arsenal
9/10

All of the games are really similar. A lot like Jak and Daxter, as well as most other item collecting platformers out there. The guns made it interesting, and it was fun to play. I've beaten the first one and second one, and got about a third of the way through my second play on the third. Very fun. Also, if you haven't played them, I recommend doing so in order. There are some little references to the first game in the second, and to both games in the third that you wouldn't get if you didn't play them in order. Adds to the fun.

Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2)
10/10

I think this is THE best racing game I've ever played. I thought F-Zero for GC was a complete breeze, and figured this would be just as easy. But it's SO DAMN FAST. A lot of my friends swear F-Zero is faster, but I just don't see it. Granted, F-Zero cars may go 1800-2000 KM/H and these only go about 150-200 MPH... but those are just numbers. Gameplay in this one seems a lot faster. I played it about a week and got about 50 of the 67 cars, and about 60% of the Gold Medals in World Tour. Racing, Road Rage (wreck cars to win), Eliminator (every lap the racer in last is eliminated until one remains), and Crash mode (cause as much monetary damage in one crash as possible) are the four main modes. Crash is a great party game, and Racing and Road Rage are good for actual racing gamers.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
9/10

This only gets a 9/10 because I haven't gotten very far in it so I dunno just how good it is. But from what I can see, it's damn hilarious so far. Not the dialouge as much as... the paper abilities. Not to mention a lot of stupid jokes with friends made my opinion of this game skyrocket. Had I played it alone, instead of in the company as people with the same level of stupidity as myself, I probably would've only given this an 8/10. Nevertheless, it's a fun game.

Zelda: The Minnish Cap
?/10

Been too caught up in other games to play much of this.

Bomberman Generations
8/10

Old GC game. So-so story mode. But it's got old school multiplayer. It gets an 8/10 for that reason alone.

Tales of Symphonia
?/10

Only got to play about an hour of it, will post on it later, with Zelda.

Also, I've been trying to balance FFXI in with this, as well as other things, and quiet time. I'll get back and tell how Tales/Zelda was. Also, there's another sale going on in EB soon, so I might have to pick up Megaman X8 and Mario Power Tennis.

Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap

9/10

I would say that it's the best handheld Zelda of all. It has succeeded in what it had acomplished to do (Good puzzles, more side quests, good visuals, different story). While some people might complain about the actually play mechanics being nearly identical to that of Link to the Past, I wouldn't say it hurts the game at all. Trying expirement with a new Zelda formula on the GBA would have unsatisfactory results almost undeniably, considering how refined the Link to the Past system is and how small the capabilities for something new on GBA are. Plus, in all likelyhood, this will be the last 2D Zelda game, you stupid jerk.

Final Fantasy I & II

RE4, awesome experience so far, though I don't play it too often and I'm still on the first disk.

FFI&II, haven't played FFI yet since I already beat it on Origins, FFII is a better experience than on origins since I no longer have to worry about my stats going down because of doing nothing but physical attacks through dungeons because I want to save my MP for the boss of the dungeon. Too bad my stats aren't very balanced. Especially my spells; I'm currently trying to raise all my spells to L8 (only 2 are there so far, and I know every spell in the game, including a few recent ones that are only at level 2 or 3). Just got past the Tower of Mysidia (dang that place was long). Judging by what's happening, I'm under the impression that I finally get to fight the emperor next. Although, maybe not, as I was expecting to fight the emperor at an earlier place, too.

I like Soul Calibur, but I hated the one player game. I'm sure the two player game is where it shined, but I could beat the one player game by just putting a button on turbo and leaving the room. That's sad. That was true with virtually any Tekken, while Tekken are great games too, the replay value was gone once you got all the characters.

I liked MGS3, though I'll admit the self-healing did get pretty damn tedious after a while. But what irritated me the most was how damn invincible Snake was to bullets. Often, when I'm discovered, I just stand there doing nothing, hoping to get killed so I can start over and cross through the level stealthily, but it takes so damn long for me to die from gunshots that I sometimes end up resetting the game because it's quicker that way.
The fact that it's not only so much easier and quicker, but also that it doesn't cost me much in the way of health or ammo, to disregard sneaking entirely and just go on an all-out rampage, detracts a lot from the game, in my opinion. It's even more ridiculous considering I can take on several guards without squandering any ammo, by rolling up to them, then simply pressing O and slamming their faces to the ground, instantly rendering them unconscious (although I'd have to say, with that sound effect, it's a pretty cool move).

But the Camouflage Index was a really nifty idea.

Anyway, the game I recently bought was Mario Tennis for Gamecube. I'd give it an 8/10, which is being generous. Only fun in multiplayer, and with the power moves turned off, because those got old very quickly.

Soul Calibur has a lot of skill involved, you get involved with "pro" players and unless you can gaurd impact like a second nature and understand ranges and what combos generate hits high or low then you're going to get destroyed. I started learning this stuff a little while ago, but then I got bored with the game when I realized that I'll barely be playing with any real competition.
