    Transparent Backgound

Using Gimp, I cut out an image and pasted it on to a transparent BG, but when I upload it as my avatar, it's still white. I'm not sure what I did wrong. Can someone help me out?

Just go filters > colors > color to alpha. It should default making white transparant. Then make sure to save it as a PNG, and keep the value of transparent pixels.

I guess you can always use photoshop to make it look like your baby has clothes and stuff.

And what are you saving your file as Seraphim. If it's not .png or .gif it won't be transparent.

I saved in both formats. The thing is that my file is transparent, even after I save. But the background just turns back to white when I upload it.

I must be doing something wrong. I'll keep trying. thanks people.

What are you using to upload it? I use imageshack and it turns out fine for me.

Also you can't use the site to resize pictures with transparent backgrounds(I dont think) because the site doesnt save the transparent values.

Some sites will automatically convert the file to the smallest filetype possible, thats why Im asking this, JPG is typically smaller the GIF or PNG.

                    Works fine for me

I just tested what you said, and Pavilionboards doesnt upload the transparent values, you'll have to use imageshack or something

Heres the imageshack link for the image above, just copy/paste
                    Code:
                    http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/9994/dwarfhammercolorck9.png
I havent figured out how to select JUST the background, because color to alpha does it to the whole picture.
