Another question about Max Drives... WTF?!?

    I am so confused.

So I call Future Shop today and ask them if they have any MD's. They said "yes" and they were only $19.99. I said "Great!, can you open it up and tell me what exactly it has inside?". "Sure" she says and puts me on hold. "It comes with a CD and a book". I ask if it comes with anything else and she says "no". I ask if they have any other kinds, like action replay max or whatever. She says "no, thats the only one we have".

So I call Zellers, which is the only place near me that I know has them, and not only has the price raised from $29.99 to $39.99 for 8mb (apparently they were on sale for X-Mas), but when asked to open it up he says it only has a memory card. I ask if they have any others and he says "no, it's the only one we have".

WTF? I must be missing something. Isn't it supposed to come with like a thumb drive or something?

Soooo, can someone please tell me exactly what I need to get (a list of the packages contents, pics help too ) or an alternative drive that works please, because this is bull****. I don't have a car and I don't want to ride the bus across town to find out they don't have exactly what I'm looking for (I have little faith in the electronics dept).

I don't get why this is such a hassle. Maybe it's me? I dunno.

In the max drive case you cant tell there are discs in there, you have to physically open it(which is impossible without messing up the case), just make sure its for PS2

if your in desperate need of a "thumb drive" then i can hook you up. im sure its inside the package somewhere. make sure you scope out their return policies just incase.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

Thanks Karr, but I couldn't ask you for another favor.

Also, I forgot to ask, should I buy a new ps2 mem card as well, to back up my files just in case, or is it not necessary?

That might be a good idea, as playing with max drives tend to corrupt the data every so often from what I understand.

I have a 2nd mem card, its a little more hassle to save twice but its a godsend if you accidently overwrite instead of load on startup

This is not the one I have seen, unfortunately. I'm probably gonna have to order one then. Thanks for the pics JPS.

You know Seraphim, all you really need is the disk. Any old flash drive will do, atleast thats what I've gathered from what Valk has said on the subject.

Yeah, all you need is the disc and the flash drive, and they can be purchased seperately.

The disc alone is usually about $15 and the flash is another $10-$15

Karr said he had a flash drive laying around that he wanted to give someone(as per my "need a flash drive" thread, and above), and if you need one, you should take Karr up on his offer, since both of you are in Canada, and things are more expensive there.

He already did me a solid, so I don't want to bug him. The money isn't an issue, it's actually finding what I need. Stupid employees .

Thanks Stormweaver, I may end up doing just that. Then I'll just need the disc. The people at the store don't know what they're talking about, and I don't want to have to take a dumb risk of getting the wrong one. I'm sure Ill figure something out, it's just a pain in the ass.

you mean max drive discs? Flash drives can be found at nearly every major retail place.
