I'm glad that Obama is in the lead, especially given that it's among females and males. But with Huckabee and Romney as the top showings in the Republican caucus (for the record I'm hoping for McCain), I'm getting worried about the direction our country could end up taking.
Guess we'll find out more in the next couple months.
this election will be a head to head battle between clinton and obama. my personal feeling is that clinton will beat out obama but it will very much be a close battle just like the last two elections where.
when is the primary anyway? must be soonish.
Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!
I bet DMV is filled up with "gangsta's" and homies applying for their voter registration so they can finally get one of their own in office.
Not that I'm racist(because I'm not) but it seems like if Obama wins, it'll barely be from any political influence.
Maybe I'm just acting irrational here?
there has been a black person running for president before.
there are also a lot of people who dont like black people, and more who dont like the idea of a black president.
there is still an incredible amount of racist and sexist people out there. people still have not gotten over that so it is an extreme challenge to have a president that is black or a woman. i wonder if america as a whole is ready to put that past behind them? the great part about democracy is that sex and ethnicity is no barrier to run, that the victor will be decided on votes alone.
i think what jps is trying to say here is that obama doesnt have a lot of political experience (2 years i believe it was stated), so he is adversely impacted by inexperience as well as his minority status and all the racist connotations quite a few still believe in. perhaps his chief reason for being so popular is because people have discounted his person and instead have pushed him forward because of his skin tone (wanting a black guy for president as an american first)? <sorry, im not overly enthused by his platform> if obama makes it then it will be by his own steam and not his political background (since he has limited experience to draw from).
edit: let me hit lil das with a serous answer to his joke post. the reason people are not voting is because they are no longer interested in what the candidates are saying. many years of lies, distancing from the public, and lacking representation, have all lead to this decline of voter turnout. im sorry to say but even "gangstas" vote, but they too would only desire to vote if they had confidence in a candidate that they liked.
if integrity was returned to the candidacy, if insults and trash adds where blocked, and if true equal representation was given to all desiring candidates then i think we would see far higher numbers. as it stands, so few care and i cannot say that i blame them for giving up on their system, though personally i would choose to abstain my ballot and thus support the democratic system anyway.
