Typical handheld reccomendation thread.(Going on a vacation.)

Yep, as the title says, I need some handheld advice. Pretty soon I am heading to Dubai to visit my Mom and little sister.

    It sooo pitty.

Problem is that I could give a fudge less about arab culture. So I expect PSP and DS will be my new best friends for the 30 hour flights there and back, and the three weeks while I'm there.

Another problem too is that I don't have enough games for my handheld to keep me busy that long.

For DS I still have Phantom Hourglass and Rune Factory to beat. I'm thinking of maybe trying out a Phoenix Wright title, since I see them around for 15$ now. But I am not sure. What handheld titles should I consider getting?

I was considering Final Fantasy Tactics TWOTL, Castlevania Dracula X, and Silent Hill Origins for psp.

But I'm afraid Dracula X may be a little to shallow of a title, since its just a 3D remake of a 2D platformer. And I am not that big into Silent Hill, since the only one I beat was two. Really unless its a change of pace, I don't think I'd be interested.

As for DS I am open to suggestions as well, DQ Joker has caught my eye.

Dammit, why can't Chains of Olympus come out now? That'd solve all my problems.

Now please, reccomendations go go go go go!

You think a 2D platformer remake won't do you any good, but I wouldn't put faith in a line of shallower 3D platformers if I were you.

Dracula X Chronicles has 3 games on it. 3D Chi no Rondo, original 2D Chi no Rondo and Symphony of the Night. The first two games, while simple time, are challenging(plus the 3D game has two characters to play as, and a boss rush mode). SotN should give you quite a few hours of entertainment, if you didn't play it to death on other systems. That's a pretty good deal for one game IMO.

As far as what I recommend for the PSP(if you have any of these, cross 'em off):
      -Dracula X Chronicles
      -Mega Man Maverick Hunter X
      -Disgaea
      -FFT
      -Lumines
      -Daxter

Eh, it ain't GotY worthy, but that'll keep ya for a few weeks.

Get a darn Phoenix Wright game. Get them all.

Also, between FFT and Disgaea I don't think you need much more to occupy your time.

If you have any interest in puzzle games (and I'm assuming you obviously have an interest in RPGs), I might suggest Puzzle quest, in either the DS or PSP flavor. Even though I've already got it for the DS, I'm semi-contemplating DLing it from XBLA.

If you have any interest in adventure games, I would check out Hotel Dusk, if it's not already out of print, for the DS.

And you'd probably be safe checking out some older GBA games if you don't already have some...any of the old Mario games, Wario Ware, FFTA, Tactics Ogre, Metroid Zero Mission, and Golden Sun are a few that I enjoy.

Silent Hill Origins is a great game, but it is rather short. Your first play through would be around five hours at most.

I would suggest Dracula X Chronicles, but I didn't care too much for Rondo whatever and I can't play Symphony yet... Do you have to unlock Symphony or something? I would be so ****ed if that was the case.

FFT is a sure thing. It will consume you.

Yeah you have to unlock it, just by going through a certain level path in the 3D remake. It's not hard to do, but I'd suggest looking it up.

FFT:WOTL is defiently worth it. If you happen to be at a location with wi-fi Warhammer 40,000 Squad Command's online play is great, but I can't reccomend it on the single player alone (it's fun, but only 15 missions clocking in at 20 hours max.)

Jeanne D'arc is fun too, although it's schizophrenic difficulty might grate at you if you're a big SPRG fan (it rotates between ludcirously easy with godspeed muder-fests and frustrating when the enemies are wide-spread and the turn limit is just a BIT TOO SHORT.) Granted, you can always just free combat and level for the hard bits, but it's hard to level anyone other than your armlet-weilders knowing that should you transform you can kill all of the enemies in one turn.

                  For PSP.

                  MONSTER HUNTER.

You can spend hours (upon hours, upon hours, upon hours) on end and still have a lot to go. Perfect game for a vacation.

                  For DS.

                  POKEMON

I recommend Dracula X as well.

Yes, you do have to unlock Symphony of the Night. I know where it is, though.

In Stage 2, fall down a pit during the Behemoth chase. Continue to Stage 3'.
Get to the area with a green net/nest deal. Knock it down with axes/bible. Stay on the top level of the screen, break the tombstone at the end.

                          -EDIT-

Some people like the Phoenix Wright games... I dunno.
I guess you could bring a BOOK.

                            Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Though so they don't get repeated (silly me, I should've done this at first), here is a list of the games I currently own.

                            Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow
                            Castlevania Potrait of Ruin
                            Rune Factory
                            Zelda PH
                            Pokemon Daimond
                            Hotel Dusk

                            MGS PO
                            DBZ SB2
                            Tomb Raider Legend
                            Daxter

So has anyone tried DQ Joker though? Thats one I'm really thinking about.

I get paid tomorrow, and all of the suggestions have made things a bit easier. Thanks.

                              I suggest:

                              Lumines
                              FFT

Those two should be more than enough. Those are all I practially play on my PSP and I'm cool with that.
