    NEWbie

    Hi,

I am a newbie who is hoping to be a latebloomer, as far as creating rpgs with RPG Maker.

I know nothing about your site.

Please teach me how to use the site, leaving threads, etc.

This is all NEW to me.

I am a CONSOLE gamer and CONSOLE game collector. I have a pretty nice collection of games for 7 Console Systems.

I have a GREAT rpg game Collection overall. I am currently getting ready for the Final Battle in FFVII and also am playing Dark Cloud 1 and Star Ocean 2nd Story.

I want to learn how to create rpgs with RPG Maker. Will someone please help get me started.

Feel free to contact me here via private messaging or via my email address at ricdicdo@yahoo.com

    Thanks for letting me share,

    phatgamer

welcome to the site. my advice for you is to keep the cap to a minimum since badly formated text puts some of the guys panties in a knot here.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

      Re: NEWbie

      1) You've already learned how to "leave a thread," so I'm not sure how much more help you need with that, although I believe there is a "Forum Rules" or an "FAQ" on the front page if you need more help/information.

2)You're going to have to tell us which RPG Maker software you bought, and then we can direct you to the specific help forum to answer your questions.

Also, if you need help with something specific in RPGM3, for an example, I HIGHLY recommend browsing the RPGM3 Workshop forum, be it through using the search function, or just randomly reading posts, before posting your question. Anyone that's been here for a while can tell you how frustrating it is when every other week, a newbie makes a thread asking how to use variables, when there have to be at least 20 threads, if not more, dealing with this exact question.

Welcome, Phatty (if I may be so bold as to call you that).

        Re: NEWbie

Not just that, badly formatted text makes a user seem like a waste of time to reply to, why would we help someone who doesn't care about the quality of their posts?

        Anyways welcome to the Pavilion!

Skim through the RPG Maker sections, there's plenty of tutorials and tips throughout the threads of all 4 makers.

Make sure you read the rules first though.

Yeah, I think you've got the posting down pat... you can pretty much jump in and post anywhere, as long as you've got something good to say. Just make sure you respect the forum rules--Perversion gave you a useful link.

In my eyes your first post is formatted just fine, however... and I really have to applaud the taste of anyone who's playing FF7, SO2, and Dark Cloud! Great trio of games there!

The RPG Maker General (throwing around ideas, tips, etc.), RPG Maker Workshop (specific tips and technical help), and Game Forums (threads focused around a specific in-progress game or developer) are the three RPG-Maker-centric forums here, if that's what you were specifically looking for.

Welcome to the Pavilion, we hope you enjoy it here and we hope to get to know you better!

            Re: NEWbie

i would suggest reformatting your title since in the past a few that have chosen that format have been stereotyped and been targeted for reprisal as a "noob." thats just a suggestion, if you are super gunho then keep it.

which consoles do you own and which are your favorites? why did you decide to work on an rpg maker game?

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

people, his formatting is just fine. if you check his profile, you'll see he owns all three, but is currently working with 1.

Welcome to the pav!!! I have to say I'm very impressed you are willing to sit down and learn to make games as a hobby at your age. Every one I know that is retired golfs or knits or does boring stuff. It's rare to see someone trying to learn and keep up with the times.

The list of games you mentioned are all really great. I too have enjoyed each one. As for how to start creating games it's all ones personal prefrence. You just have to let your ideas flow. When you start messing with RPGM 3 let me know. I can help you with that one, but I have never touched the other RPG makers.

A unique personality such as yourself is always welcome. I'm sure you'll like it here.

                  Yep welcome.
I do not see any problem with your formatting.
                  People here are good help.
There is some real talent here.

                      facts,

Is that your site name ?

Yes I SEE that is you user name.

Sorry, like I said though, I am a dang newbie; don't know nothing about forums, boards and the like.

Thanks for the shout out. It makes me feel wanted or somethin'.

If you have ANY info you can send my way, as it applies to communicating protocol and such at this site and RPG Mag, send it my way. Would greatly appreciate it.

Would like also an online BUD to talk RGP gaming and RPG Maker with.

                        lil das,

what do you mean by, forgive me, "formatting." Remember now I am a newbie, so I think newbies ask alot of dumb stuff.

That's how I hope to learn my place around here.

                          Lausen,

Thanks for the encouragement. Newbies need such in order to gain some confidence, though it might at first be awkward confidence.

I also have RPG Makers 1 & 2. Figured it's best to start at the beginning, RPG Maker.

NO I do not knit or the other-senior stuff. Other than doing the things needed to keep my responsibilities in line, it is all pc-ing and gaming.

                          Again, thanks for the welcome.

                            Karr,

thanks, I will change my title.

First off let me say, every penny I can afford to spend for other than necessities, has been for maintaining my 2 pcs and my gaming addiction.

I guess my pride-and-joy Console System is the Saturn. Why? Not sure, but it is the one that first caught my eye. I own all U.S.A. published games for it and my games and cases are good to near mint.

I fell in love with the big BUT FRAGILE beautiful crystal clear long-box cases which displayed some HIGH quality cd art and user manuals.

I enjoy A L L my consoles. Of course it is the games that make the consoles.

I decided on RPG Maker 'cause one day when reading one of my old gaming mags I saw an add for it. So I surfed the net to get info about it and what I found GOT me excited. Dude, WOW, holy Mackeral...I can make MY game.

                            What's up Doc, that's cool.

                            Keep In Touch
