**** you Valk, now I want this game. The lack of character models looks disappointing though. Let's hope everyone can make some awesome games on this.

In the making fun video it seems to have 2 player capability.Or is it only a camera effect???

i think that is just a camera effect they were using. Still, looks awesome!

The most impressive thing I caught on there was basically the towns.....it was actually like a town, 5-8 buildings!

Would it be to much to ask, if I wear to ask if you could check to
see if there are any guillotine in the game, or at the least, Dutch peasant girls.

Those screens are freaking awesome!
Hopefully around or after E3 we can learn more about the available options. like how many playable characters, character, monster models, etc.

I hope you can make a graphic 'swing' a sword or something, then I think a Zelda game might (and i'm stressing might) possible. I'll have to wait until it comes out to find out i guess.

Okay, that Making Fun video gives me the impression that there will be 4-player splitscreen on this, but I highly doubt it.
I'm very impressed, though. For starters, FREE CAMERA MOVEMENT! And the view is breathtaking.

no, there's no multi-player. the four screen thing was just a fancy thing to do in the video (also mirrors the layout of the game editor's main menu)

indeed, the camera was really awesome. though the camera effect got me to thinking, how many others are there, as that was pretty impressive :)

Only 23 male character models...
I'm guessing 20-25 female character models, and a few misc. like animals and such. Sounds disappointingly lacking in variety.
I hope this game isn't all style no substance, but it has been looking like such since I've seen enterbrain's website on it.
In the next RPGM installment, I'd like to see an rpgm like this, but with characters, objects, buildings, and monsters for all settings, where you might have 50 characters for medieval, 50 for victorian/industrial revolution, 50 for modern, 50 for prehistoric, and do the same with objects, monsters, buildings, ect, plus allow the player to create their own custom creations from assorted parts, and a music maker.
The graphics are exactly what I'd like in a console rpgm.
Or better yet. Imagine if a PC rpgm were made with graphics like that, plus allowing the maker to import their own...

how do you know how many male graphics there are?
didn't mean to sound snappy, just wondered if you imported it or something. But a RPGM with all the graphics you listed would suit almost any kind of rpgm, but it looks like it'd be stressing limits of CDs, though i'm just guessing there. :lol

Never imported it.
CDs have over 700 megs of storage space.
But PS2 games are DVDs. Those hold about 4.7 gigabytes.
I imagine having about 600 pre-made characters, about 1,000 pre-made buildings, 1,500 pre-made objects, 400 pre-made songs, 500 pre-made sound effects, and about 500 pre-made monsters would take up about half that.

I missed it in the videos. Where did it mention it?

35 seconds into the Making a World video you will find it.
Very disappointingly low number.

Yeah the resources won't stress the space, but that never means development will easily come up with such resources.

I've watched the videos atleast 10 times a piece, and i didn't quite see them actually state it, but idk. :|
but wow that's alot of memory one dvd CD can hold! Ok, that'd be cool it were in the next one, but i'm too fixated on this one to worry about a next :lol

Kire, Omegadragon3000, Ivalice, and many others here could easily come up with such models. Kire especially. I'm sure a game company, that employs experts in this field, could easily out do someone like myself or many many others that simply insert their own models into already made PC games for their own mods. And give me the time, and I could make models for a game like this that fits the look of its ofther models. Quite many could, about 7 or so people on these forums could.
The models are simply noted as bits of information when you place them somewhere, representing their status and position.

***strange. won't let me edit my above post***
I've watched the videos atleast 10 times a piece, and i didn't quite see them actually state it, but idk.
Look again. Right after the camera sweeps around the city/castle, it shows character models being selected. Pay attention to the numbers. 35 seconds in, it shows the character select screen, 36 seconds in you see the numbers. Pause if you need to.

you'll never see such an ultimate RPG Maker, because they'd kill their own market releasing such a thing. once you would have something like that, you wouldnt buy future installments, if they could even think of anything to add to them.
The Toecutter

Sure people would still buy them. Graphics, features, memory cards, event options, model editors, ect. can always be updated, and new systems are always coming out.

hm......IGN isn't working for me anymore, but anyway, I'll stick to my guns which is to assume the worst, that way i won't be disappointed. meaning i'll go with such a small limit of chars. for right now :| .
You know......I'm proud to be a RPGM fan :), seriously. I seen about it in Gamestop before it came out, and when it did, I would read forums at gamefaqs, and dream of how it looked. When getting it, I was disgusted by it's user interface, but being as it was challenging, i stuck with it, and look where it got me :), I play people's games whom do superb jobs at this, which makes game making more competitive.
Thank you to all who play/make games on RPGM2

I remember when I first ever heard about RPG Maker. It was in a game magazine article about E3 quite a few years back. I couldn't imagine how they could really make a "game" that would let you create your own game so I figured it would be more of you choosing setting, characters, major events from a list and basically piecing together a game that was only unique in the order of the pieces you chose. More like a Choose Your Own Adventure book. Obviously I was completely wrong and very pleasantly surprised when I actually got RPGM. Yes it had many limitations but you could create every aspect of the game from scratch. I didn't get RPGM2 but it's also much more capable than what I expected before I knew the details. I'm hoping the same will happen with this one. Sure, it'll have its limitations but I think it'll be better than most of us are expecting it to be. I'm definitely getting it because from the first time I saw the videos on Enterbrain I could see it was perfect for some of the games I'd wanted to make with RPGM1.

Hmm. I could most likely use RPGM3 for my newest character, Reiyuu. But that's if we can even edit that much. As long as there is a little kid with blue hair graphic, I'm good for a side story of LTH.
I'm I the only one who could tell that it was compatible with a keyboard without the official word?
Take a look at the beginning of the 2nd video carefully. It was crystal clear.
