Im all interested in this game, but after reading up on this game, its ****ing hardcore man. Theres so much crap you can do, and have to take care of you might as well be an actual space pilot.

People pillage, and steal, and pirate, and form alliances, and hire assassins, and theres bounty hunters, etc. Almost EVERYTHING is managed by the players, with the Devs hardly ever stepping in to stop anything and letting their massive universe run its course. The players alliances and factions are always fighting over space, and its economy is controlled by the players.

If you pick off some little ship and your all happy, you can expect his buddies to arrive in their bigger meaner ships to splatter your ship across the face of a moon.

Hell some people make real money off this game. You can buy game time cards with in game currency, which you can sell for real money. All under the table stuff mind you. There was apparently some huge assassination that went down costing a company over $10 000, cause they slowly worked their way into their faction over like a year then took out their leaders ship or something. Its freaking crazy.

It seems like something awsome to get into, but totally overwhelming at the same time.

Check out the sheer size of the ships.

The little tiny dots in the upper right are the starting ships. Those MASSIVE ships are ones that only huge factions can afford. Apparently theres one type of ship thats only ever been made 4 times.

This is the kind of game where there actually are people who are feared by all. Like in TV shows where they parody online games, people go OMG THE BLACK KNIGHT PLAYER! THAT GUYS A LEGEND!, Ive never seen an MMO where thats actually possible. Theres always those bastards that play all day every day that are better than you and theres thousands of them. But in here you can become the black knight player that everybody looks up to and respects as you lead your alliance of 50 huge ships into battle.

Read the Wiki on it.

SO is this game all in ship or what?

Can I control an actual character?

So far itd all in your ship, but they plan to add to it and allow you to freely roam space stations, and maybe even other ships, so you ca hang out with people.

Thats a huge job though since there are THOUSANDS of space sations and bases around in their universe. They would also like to add planet exploration, but they've said its way beyond their capabilities right now since you are able to visit entire galaxies. :lol

Yep, I have the trial up and running but really can't see myself sinking time into this game.

Those largest ships are titans and take TWO YEARS playing time to make. Take into account getting the cash, materials, etc. You most likely will be playing 4-5 YEARS before you can get that ship.

No thanks, $15 is too much.

However Star Trek Online I may pay for a month or two (since planet exploration and stuff is in there) . :p

Wow... two years real time? That's insane...

Wow I screwed that up.

two months.

But collecting materials and what-not would be like two years... then getting all the people needed to make it another two...

or somthing...

:|

Here is a good in-game shot of a titan.

Oh ok, I was going to say, two years real time is crazy. Two months not so much. You're right though, it probably takes forever to gather the materials and people.

Well there is a reason there is only 4 titans in the game though.

The whole game reminds me of Escape Velocity, only a much, much bigger deal.

I hate gil-sellers. If the devs see that people selling gil on this game is okay, then I don't want to play this only to see that some ass-hats with more money get farther than me.

Really, all I see gil-sellers doing is ****ing up the in-game economy and making it 10x tougher for the average player to do anything worthwhile.

The thing that keeps this from being so totally awesome for me is the fact that the longer you've played the game the stronger you get, so no matter how much you play the guy who joined a year earlier than you will always be stronger than you.

That's what I hear anyways, and also, I've heard CCP, the company that makes EVE, is slightly corrupt >_>
