I have need for using the "egyptian monster" in the city of Ramses (palace guards), but I can only seem to place "characters". IS there a trick to this, or are monsters only available in fields and dungeons?

Re: Monsters in Towns?
There are no monster models that you can use to be visible in dungeons, world maps, towns, etc. All you can do is make a storyteller, and hope that there is a background for it that shows the monster you want to use (which, if it's not a "large" monster, ie-boss, chances are there is not...I think the Egyptian enemy model is of medium size, so I think you're out of luck).

Re: Monsters in Towns?
Just that they are supposed to be kinda around the city, and then also Pharaoh's personal guards. I was going to use them like gate guards or something, like "Sorry, guys, you can't come in here" until we completed a requirement of some kind. No dialogue in battle mode I guess, huh...?Shalom,

Re: Monsters in Towns?
You could have invisible "touch" events in different places that bring up storytellers, and since there aren't any 2d graphics that match exactly, use the silhouette of a character in the storyteller instead of the full color graphic. That way it doesn't have to look exactly like the in battle monster anyway. It just has to have a somewhat similar shape." I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by me. Re: Monsters in Towns?
I think I'm gonna use storyteller, maybe comment on how the guards "came out of nowhere", or something. Can I go straight from a storyteller to a battle? Dont think ill use statues, though. What are the chances that my game is one of the few that is based in Egypt, and there is only one egyptian monster (2 colors) and I can't use 'em?
lil das, where at in Indiana? Noblesville area myself...Shalom,

Lafayette...
It is pretty lame.
I have done some work around Noblesville before.
And yes you can go from a storyteller to a battle.
You just set the battle to happen directly after the storyteller.
If you are using variables then set them to have the same one.
Or set them different and just have it change to the battles variable after the storyteller.
Ya the game is a little too limiting. But you learn to work around it."Dans le veritable amour c'est l'ame, qui enveloppe le corps"

Re: Monsters in Towns?
I have some friends in Lafayette. I also have worked for a short time there, independent research. When I finish my game, I could prob get a copy to you quicker than anything else...
Can you buy Max Drives around here in Indiana? Ihave never seen 'em, but I have also never looked.
And I don't know the first thing about using variables, or how I would incoprporate them. Yet. I have pretty much figured out the "decision branch" and "QA branch" features. I am using them to create my own shop, so I can customize the shop dialogue. I am trying to figure out how to actually pay for items, remove the money, and receive the item. But I got the string idea realized, though. I just need to figure out which commands to use. I hope I don't need to figure out variables yet... I gotta go back to work tomorrow, seriously cutting into my game-learning-curve-time.Last edited by Brotherbrian; 01-02-2008, 12:00 AM.Shalom,

Re: Monsters in Towns?
Custom shops are a fools errand my friend. Mostly because you cannot manipulate internal variables, like gold. You can remove it and you can give it, but you can't figure out how much they have, so once they have zero money the player doesn't have to pay for squat.
To have a custom shop you must create a way to monitor how much money they have, which involves treasure items and hidden auto-events.stodi no na ka cenba
