    Bible based RPG?

I know some folks here probably would not appreciate such an idea, but I am going to shoot for a somewhat historical model of RPG. One that follows the biblical account of the land of Israel and the patriarchs. Part of the reason is for educational purposes, I am going to try to include various battles, different kingdoms, etc. I plan on using warps for going to areas that go beyond the field map boundaries (soooo small). I am also going to try to incorporate the "every weapon" trick. Most enemies will be human. Magic will be renamed to suit biblical events (miracles, divine intervention, etc). Are there giants available?

Any tips or ideas from you guys?

I await your comments and jokes as well.... I would like to include some humor as well. I thought about changing the "heal" potions and "quick" to "mocha" and "expresso", all available at Ye Olde Starbucks.

    Shalom,
    Brian

You could always make this game.
You could always do something worthwhile.

This could work... But only if you had Jesus go rogue and bust a cap in the 3 wise mizzles.

The Faith of One is bible based (but not in a historical context) and considered one of the best games on here. So if your game is good people will like it.

Is making a game on RPG Maker worthwhile at all...no matter how good it is?

Is even posting on the Pav worthwhile?

Simply answer Yes! I enjoy it anyway.

As for the game idea it sounds like it could work. At least you'll have a good base to work from. Go for it.

                      Re: Bible based RPG?

The water level thing has presented something of a prob for me, until I thought of following the "creation" principle. I made the water "high" level so it "covered the entire land", and "made the dry land to appear" by creating bumps and hills, a few mountains, to rise up out of it. Also solves the problem of "flat land syndrome".

I am thinking of re-creating the Red Sea crossing event, by creating a field with the necessary water needed to cross, and making an exact copy of it as a second field, but with a patch of dry land through the middle, then go back to the original after over the other side. I'll let yall know if it works.

I also made a "class" of every weapon type available, like "male sword/shield" then "male great sword" and the like. This will help me to readily identify what I am changing to in order to equip later. Good idea, or wasted memory?

                      Shalom,
                      Brian

You need to include Hanaukah (sp?) Harry (from SNL) as a playable character...I only mention this because of your usage of "Shalom," whatever that even means.

You can always delete it later, though I don't do that to keep the "new class" numbers low.

Why do people keep doing that? Just put it in your signature. Save you the trouble of doing it every time.

If you want to do it, knock yourself out.

There's been Biblical games made in the past, largely to appease religious conservatives who hated games, and most of them had a reputation for sucking. That doesn't mean any game you make will suck, if you pay attention to the details and make something that people will feel is worth playing. Play some of the popular games here for whichever game you plan to use to get an aesthetic feel for your work. Heck, go play some of the bad games so you'll know what NOT to do.
