a bit more background would be nice. did you just buy it online? did you buy it from a store and they gave you the wrong thing? do you even own disgaea 1? some info would be nice then we can give you helpful advice other then just play the damn game and enjoy it.

Well... Disgaea 2 is worth about 20% more on ebay by average but since you have the box and manual for the first game...

That reminds me of when my mother got a copy of Backyard Wrestling 2 from someone for free. It was unopened and everything.
I took it because why the **** not.
When I opened it the first Backyard Wrestling was inside... WTF?!
Th second one is actually kind of fun. The first is just horrid.

Easy enough being lazy and just putting the game in the already-open case. Check a game that you played after you played Disgaea 1 last.

Take it as an omen and just play Disgaea 2. Except for the damn moving geo symbols, it's better in nearly every way from the first one, IMO. The first one's worth way more money, though. It sells for about 45 dollars used, while you can get D2 NEW for 20.

I had to settle for a copy of Disgaea 1 without a booklet or DVD cover insert and I printed one offline.

Go back to where you bought it. If it was gamestop or something, they just grabbed the wrong sleeve from their giant catalog of games.
