    Question about buying Xbox 360

So my brother wants one for christmas and my entire family is chipping in to buy it. But all I see available is a bundle with Marvel Alliance and Forza Motorsport 2. Is there a cheaper package that excludes the games? Or are the games "free" and just part of the deal?

p.s. - elite is too expensive and the dumpster version is stupid.

    THANKS.

I dunno which one you should get, just make sure it's got a freakin warranty or else you'll have a very expensive space heater in a few months.

Man You should try to find a way to get the elite anyway. The harddrive is massive. I got the bundle you are talking about. It is the best deal out there besides the elite... Although the marvel game seriously blows.

Pretty much the games are free and part of the deal. $350 is a great price for everything considering you get the headset and wireless controller and everything especially considering the fact that I'm pretty sure Forza 2 is still 60 bucks on it's own.

The only thing that sours the deal is that the 360 is not wi-fi ready for some goddamn reason and the adapter to make it so is 100 dollars!

doesn't it come with an ethernet cable? in any case, if your hub is near the Xbox, you can just hook it up to that.

But if it's not, you're screwed.

              $99.99 screwed.

I think it's a good deal though. I bought this version for my brother. The "pro" with the two games and HDMI out, right?

Is Wi-Fi really that much better than the more traditional ways to hook up to the Internet? Or do you live somewhere that Wi-Fi is the only option?

does the Elite version have wi-fi?

and what do you need 120GB HDD for? Downloading a million demos and arcade games?

edit: Yeah, I'm talking about the "pro" with the HDMI output.

Elite doesn't have wi-fi standard. None of them do. It's easily the worst aspect of Microsoft's "optional" standpoint when it comes to features. And 120 GB is nice for storing music and movie files, though if you have a Windows PC you can easilly stream content from that over a home network. Seriously, though, demos can be over 1 GB in size, and movie rentals are several GBs. 20 GB will fill up faster than you think if you utilize everything an Xbox is capable of. And an Xbox is an excellent media hub thanks to how it now supports DivX and XviD video codecs. If you watch fansubs, they look fantastic on your Xbox. :3

If you live by a CompUSA go NOW. They're liquidating, so it's 10% off all videogame hardware. So that's like $30-$40 right there.

I think it just depends on what you want. If you don't intend to store anything on it aside from a few demos and maybe a Live Arcade game or two, 20 GB is fine. But if you want to really get into the multimedia aspects of the system, it's rather necessary to have the larger storage.

I should also point out Elites are supposed to be a little less prone to the hardware issues that have plagued the 360 for so long. And the one person I know who owns an Elite certainly does not seem to have had any problems thus far.

My brother won't do any of those things.

He really just wants to play Rock Band.

                            Ugh.

Don't buy him one out of spite. It's like last Christmas when I saw someone buy a PS2 with one copy of Madden. And you know that's the only game they're going to play on it. There's nothing illegal or wrong about it, but it ****** me off.
