#1. Halo 3

Like a pebble that has been rounded over the centuries by the gentle splashing of the ocean waves, Halo 3 has become the perfect hardcore first-person combat simulator. By dint of painstaking labor on the part of its developer, Bungie, it has been refined over three installments to the point where it delivers only pure, unadulterated gaming bliss. Every combat is even-sided and complex and can be waged in multiple ways, using an arsenal of long- and short-range weapons, plus grenades and hand-to-hand moves. Every level is perfectly paced and balanced and graced with soaring architectural compositions. Plus it's graphically gorgeous. The epic storyline and the stirring score don't hurt either. In one of the greatest years video gaming has ever seen, Halo 3 is the very best of the bunch.

No big surprise there, I'd say.

Though I guess that is a surprise in itself, a non-gaming publication didn't completely screw up and put something like Guitar Hero 3 on there just because it's popular.

Wow...they must not have a PS3.

Cause i'm sorry, there is no way in hell that Uncharted should not be on that list. And i'm sorry, they put the words "Halo" and "epic storyline" together, so they just lost all credibility. I wont deny that the gameplay is decent (although i dont like it that much), but epic storyline...NO.

Bioshock and Galaxy need to be higher on that list. IMO.

Welllllllll, I mean it was fun and all, don't get me wrong.

But I didn't like how the levels were so "mini-gamish" and singular as opposed to the 'worlds' feeling of the past two.

Well, they DID have a few multi-platform games. And talk about a slap in the face to Sony...a PS2 game is on the list, and not a PS3 game.

As a sidenote, when my work first got the Rock Band bundles in, we got 6 360 and 2 PS3 versions. All six of the 360 ones were gone before Black Friday, but both of the PS3 ones were still in stock after the day after Thanksgiving.
