Dear Brave Heart 2: the lame sequel

A friend of mine has just gotten into RPGM3, but wants to make a sequel to "Dear Brave Heart" (the sample game). She begged me to post for people to give advice. Please put up the most @$$inine and rude comments you can think of, or actual advice, or just tell me to tell her to shut up. whatever

Tell her to be a bit more original

Why don't she just make an account here?

Here I come Pav, like the Kool-Aid man barging into a funeral! Oh yeah!

I happen to like Dear Brave Heart. Not getting any EXP from fights was a little annoying, but still....

Oh, tell her to look up the 72 spirits of Solomon. That'll help.

Is it going to intentionally be lame? If so, tell her to save it for our third Garbage Contest (I assume it's coming at SOME point, people love it so much).

If not... well, I guess I really can't give any good advice here, it's not something I'd want to play. I really didn't like DBH, it was like the paragon of everything I don't like in RPGs.

EDIT: By the way, it's "asinine," so you don't need to censor bypass it.

Dear Brave Heart sucks. The terrain makes me want to throw up. She can make a sequel. It won't take much to make it better than the original. Tell her to go for it.

Maybe she could do a better job than the creators of the first one did.

              1) She can't make an account here because she shares the same PC as me.

              2) I said " the lame sequel" because I think the 1st DBH is lame. Soul Master? Ethelion? Dark Lord? and don't get me started on the asinine references to RPGM3! I don't think a game (even a sample game) should constantly refer to the game creation software.

I think dear brave heart was meant to be more of an introduction to rpgm3's capabilities, then an actual game. All those references were there to give a bit of a tutorial I think.

I gave her a little talk, but it didn't work. Now she wants to create a "special Edition" of the game with some major editing ( Like the maps, the battles, the names, the cutscenes, and the stupid "sample" junk) AND a sequel IN THE SAME GAME!!!!!

I guess I'm bad at negotiating. P.S. She wants me to let her onto the Pavilion to say hi.

Let her. You'll have to talk to Valk or something, but....

...So? That's better then a lot of stuff they come out with here.

Yiu know, I actually once thought about making a sequel to DBH myself.

Tell her to go for it. Sounds like she's putting some actual ideas into it. If using DBH as a jumping off point helps her get her creative juices flowing there's nothing wrong with that.

Yeah, if she's that zealous about it, no reason not to just encourage her and let her fly with her ideas. I still agree with you that it's not a good idea to start out with, but I could say that about a lot of games that people had a lot of fun creating.

Okay. But Valk made it clear I'd get kicked off if any more users apeared via our PC (by our, I mean the one that we share).

my girlfriend sez posts here and we are on the same ip band so im sure you can let your (sister, gf, friend, mother, grandmother, aunt ect.) make an account to. just give valk the heads up and have him approve it before you let her make it.

as for a sequel i would say go for it. the first game you make is going to be a horrid pile of donky poo. its accurately a good thing to play with the sample and make a mini crap game, perhaps release it to some friends to get a critique to find out where your weaknesses and strengths are. just starting out in a game is also a good idea but its going to be a long uphill climb. the sample at least gives you a starting ground where you can do basic tweaks to get the idea of how the maker works.

its taken me 8 (?) years to master the original rpg maker enough to finally sit down and finish a game. i doubt your lady friend will need so long to make something good but you need a place to start.

after all how many of us started farting about with the rpg maker 1 gobli sample?

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!
Card Three is released! You can find it here!

BIG (well, it's actually small) News!

She's Decided to make the sequel set roughly 250 years after Dear Brave Heart. The story will involve the child of one of those 68 remaining demons and a human woman. And get this: the full title of the sequel wil be:
                              Dear Brave Heart:
                              The 73rd demon
