    The "VENTING" thread.

The intention of this thread is for all the pavilion regulars to let all us new members know exactly what it is that we do that's ******* you all off so much.

    Without insults.

I have noticed people have been making many complaints, and starting threads about how they're leaving the pav until stuff dies down, or whatever, because of all the ****ty posting thats been going on here lately. I would like people to say exactly what it is that's bothering them so much, in a constructive manner.

    Without insults.

So... I know there are people here that dislike me. The only problem is, I'm not clear as to why because I only get people saying things like "you're fat and stupid..." or "you smell". That doesn't tell me what I am doing wrong or what I need to work on to improve my standing here at the pav. I have never been on a forum before this one, so I'm sure my forum etiquette need some improvement. I would appreciate some constructive feedback.

Also feel free to discuss other people who are "bad posters" too.

This is not a "what do you think of me?" thread, because I don't want people who do like me to post here (although I can't stop anyone). I only want to here from the people who who have a problem with me and others.
Tell me so I can stop bothering you guys.

I know this thread will probably get closed, but oh well.

    edit: holy typos batman.

I don't know what poeple have against you. You have good grammer and spelling. And really, thats all most of us ask.

The only poster I find redundant is lil das, his posts tend to make little to no sense, pointless too.

Oh and I can't forget Duelexpert. That bush costume sucked. I guess he's okay otherwise.

Well... to be honest I have no problems with the "new" members, but on a few occasions I've found some of your (meaning not just you but various "new" members) posts offensive.

Since you made this thread I will use you as an example. You didn't have to many nice things to say about Christianity in the Anti-gay thread, and while I wouldn't fault you for not agreeing with me on everything, some of your posts in that thread were simply offensive and slightly uncalled for. More than once you interrupted a somewhat serious discussions with uncalled for sarcasm, which was not welcomed well, expecially when you flamed Valkysas.

I think in general some of the "new" members have done some silly things that make me cringe. I don't want to point people out though, because they can guess who they are probably.

While a venting thread sounds like a fine idea in general, it occurs to me that if people didn't like something you did, and wanted you to know, couldn't they just use the reputation system? Or is this just because you want more elaborate answers than that can provide?

You're right. I'm sorry about all that. I let myself get angry, which carried over to my posts in that thread.

            Thanks.

My rep only says things like "you smell". So that doesn't do me any good. Also, feel free to talk about anyone who bothers you, not just myself.

You are not a target skipper. Usually people who throw down the rep system leave smartass comments, like Ser said. This thread is the best way to find things out.

Although I find negative feedback funny because I here it about myself so much. Usually I think people overdo it when it comes to Ser. He can get a little angry at times and blow things up bigger than they should be but overall his points are usually valid. That is all that counts.

                  Re: The "VENTING" thread.

                  Please don't praise me guys.

I want to hear from the people who have a problem with me. You know who you are. The reason I started this is so they will have a chance to actually say whats on their minds without resorting to insults or in some cases, leaving the pav.

If you have a problem with lil-das, say "lil_das, you bother me because...."(or something along those lines but less lame).

Same for me. I don't care about rep, and I don't care if people don't like me. I just want to know if I'm offending people or not. People hate on lil_das which is their right, but most of you don't give very good reasons. Just immature insults.

                  That doesn't help anyone.

I don't have any particular problem with your personality, Ser, but when topics seem to go stale, awry or lose focus, you always seem to be around.

                      Re: The "VENTING" thread.

alot of the griping made here is just dumb drama. there really isnt anything different at the pavi then there was 8 years ago. i find more of a problem with some of the older members due to the amount of negativity they want to dump here.

ive spoken to a lot of pavis and most seam to agree that you need a thick skin to post here. here is my reply i made to several members. also you may want to do some quick research to check out the other 3 topics about this very thing, people leaving. those topics have a lot of information as to "why," plus a lot of pointless drama to fill in the spaces.

"ive spoken to alot of members by pm and most agree that the hurtful statements made by some members have got to stop. some others are by far more destructive to this community with there pure negative comments and completely condescending attitudes. in fact quite alot of people no longer come here because they grew tired of their constant buzzing.

this is a site to have fun in, an online community where having a nice debate is refreshing, and poking fun at an article makes for great sport. this is stripped away with mean spirited comments that are aimed at stifling a bit of fun. i even find that i no longer post some of the funny comments i normally would have just because of the amount of reprisal i have received by some of these individuals. someone pointed out recently that this place is becoming crappy becuase some people are so into their persona's that its becoming disgustingly overdone and boring to listen to them.

the halloween costume of ann colter was a good example of this. every argue the costume made was exactly the same and bleakly negative. i found myself skipping over the posts, this is the same for a lot of members here. ignoring people just ruins up the flow of a topic and im too damn curious to blind myself to even horridly nonconstructive comments.

the handful of people i like here have made this experience grand and are fully the reason me and my girlfriend sez like to remain here to post. its for them that i aim my jokes at, and its for them that i remain here to try to strip away the force that other posters are using to turn every topic into a depressing tripe of negativity. why should anyone fear to post in a place that supposed to be filled with mature people?"

some of those who expressed loudly that they want to leave are some of those who are causing the problem in the first place - i said some, not all. it isnt the new people who are the problem, every place needs new members or it will cease to exist. we use to have a huge elitist problem some time back, we should never again get into that position because this site suffers as many of you will remember.

everyone who starts off here needs time to blend in with the community. many of their posts wont initially jive with the feeling here and its only after being part of the community for a while that they start to blend in. the really horrid ones soon move on, while the ones who want to be apart of the community stay conform and contribute.

i dont agree with the name changes that new members have taken in order to hide their initial bad starts but despite that, a few of them have started to become valued members. seraphim is one of those noobie sucess stories.

grims still has a little bit to go but he is starting to come around and then we get to lil das.

its very obvous to see why he isnt liked. here is what i replied to him which sums up what hes doing wrong very nicely.

"perhaps you should take a hard look at yourself to discover why your so hated. you do have some good ideas but your horrible at defending them and even worse at getting the idea across in such a way that doesnt outright insult someone. negative comments like "america sucks" isnt adding to this debate, its not constructive criticisms, and it absolutely makes you look like a person without intelligence and who has nothing worth reading to say. if you expect people to value your opinion and stop ignoring you then you need to make sure your mature about how you present it."

other then that, its really the whole attitude of the pavi that needs to change. i think moderation has been lax lately that would otherwise clean up the garbage postings and let the new members know what isnt tolerated here - how can they know if people just insult them and not tell them why they are angery? otherwise this place is fine, the drama needs to end, but thats all.

Thank you Ωbright for the sig fix!

                          Re: The "VENTING" thread.

Yeah, most of the newbies, I don't have a REAL problem with (even lil_das seems to be getting a bit better), but it seems as if every thread now seems to have 3/4 of the posts by people who have been here less than three months, and some of it (not all of it) seems to be just posting for the sake of posting...not to say that I'm not guilty of that on occasion myself. So to me, it's not a problem, per se...it just seems to be a changing of the guard here at the Pav. Meaning, all the newbies (and JPS and Karr) post incessantly, and this is driving some of the old-timers away, or making them post a lot less than they used to. In turn, other old-timers see few new posts from people they know and are familiar with, and only see posts from a bunch of newbies (and JPS and Karr), and in turn, THEY stop posting as frequently. So basically, 3/4 of the Pavilion has now been "taken over" by the new posters.

This is not necessarily a problem; just a changing of the guard, like I said. I've yet to figure out a way to rectify this "problem," meaning, trying to keep the older members posting here. It just seems like the whole thing is snowballing without a way to get it to stop. Just my two cents.

Yeah..... my post count is really high. I don't think I've been here three months yet.

i take offense to being called a nubie. ive been here longer then most of the members here. though in the past ive taken a step back and posted infrequently here, ive never fully left this place. my posts are no different then anyone else's who posts here, perhaps they just spring to mind easier because of my spelling. my post count is FAR lower then most of those who spam these boards daily. again, im here more then most posters so you see more of my posts.
