GI. Got it with my edge card. Good toilet seat reading.

I used to read GamePro religiously when I was younger. I read EGM on occasion whenever I've a little free money and want a magazine to read.

I've a subscription to GI (via the EdgeCard), but as a joke I had the magazines sent to my sister's house because I know she hates them.

Yep I hate Gamepro cause they spoiled FF7 for me. Also they gave Lunar:SSS a bad score cause it didn't have Eternal Blue in it. Plus, thier "Protips" were brain dead obvious.

Never subscribed to many, though for awhile I liked PSM cause of the free demo disks. ((which people would rip from the mags and take.))

One of EGM's editors did a piece on Companies giving money to get high scores and basically how they used alot of cheap tactics to try and get gaming mags to do it, ((such as trying to deny Previews to upcoming games and/or interviews about hardware consoles and peripherals.))

Not subscribed to any, Internet kinda makes them unnecessary. GI is probably the best of them though, since it's always getting the big previews for new games and whatnot. Don't know about their reviews, though.

Yeah, this whole Gerstmann thing might be one of the first times corporate pressure has been so transparent to the general public, but I imagine this same thing happens to some extent if you look behind the scenes of most major gaming mags and websites. But it doesn't really matter in the long run; reviews are only meant to be a loose guideline to what you purchase, even if they are free from corporate influence it isn't wise to give them too much consideration.

I prefer to ask real people for input. Any future game purchasing decisions I make will have a pavilion influence on them. I think the people here will make a better argument, because the opinions are so varied at this place.

I get EGM for free, so that's what I read. I am fairly indifferent to reviews, although I get a kick out of reading reviews of bad games (like Seanbaby's stuff).

I also prefer to talk to gamers I know/people on the pav for reviews and the like.

i had a subscription to gamepro for YEARS back when it was basically the only mag available. then i got into EGM. I had a Play magazine subscription for a year until I realized how annoyingly bloated their reviews are.

now i will buy EGM if i'm riding a bus or plane for something to read on the trip but that's about it.

I like EGM, not for the coverage but for the writing. They tend to outside of the "previews" and "reviews" territory for interesting articles about stuff like gaming around globe, or how gaming relatest to our childhoods, etc. Also they make me laugh, seanbaby especially.

I find he's been getting stale. In my opinion a lot of the magazine's writing is getting that way also.
