Just got FFXII

I'm only about 3hrs in, and I freakin love it!
I don't know why yet, but I just feel so comfortable playing it already. I was very cautious about it after playing the demo, and all the negative and positive hype behind the game. But I just thought, for $30, why not. I am not unhappy with my decision.

I realize I may be jumping the gun a little having only played it for such a short amount of time, but this is the first rpg in a long time where I feel instantly connected to the world/atmosphere and the characters. I am still in the first town, but everything just feels so alive and interesting, and the combat is not at all what I thought it was going to be like. And thats a good thing.

Anyway, what do you all think of the game?

Excellent game. The fighting system is a breath of fresh air and the gambits are pretty nice too. They simplify things anyway. The license board is really cool but it pales in comparison to the Sphere Grid from X.

The one big problem with XII is the character development. One of the worst in the series. You probably will not get that attached to any of them.

Tons of side quests so it will keep you for a while. You will most likely get bored before you complete it 100%.

The story is weird and very VERY weak compared to the sidequests. Without them the game wouldn't be half o what it is.

Overall worth the buy and awesome fun. A definite for the PS2 collection.

I too love this game. I really like the combat and the wide open world. It adds for a new level of stratagy. The only thing I don't like about it is the characters, but the rest of the game is so good I don't care.

Well I hope you enjoy it. At least get your $30 worth out of it. Maybe the fields will give you ideas for your game.

Let me specify that by characters, I mean the NPC's (haven't really got a chance yet to experience the pc's). Like I said, they just add to the atmosphere. I also am diggin the musical score. I am sure there will be things to change my opinion as the game unfolds, but for me it's not often that a game gets me right off the bat like that. With the exception of SotC.

Weary and money issues. Walmart just put a bunch of ps2 games on for $30, or 2 for $20. I didn't see anything else there I wanted (I already ordered Rogue Galaxy). I could have bought it used for $20, but I figured pay the extra $10 and get it new.

FFXII is my favorite in the series. I started a new game almost immediately after beating it the first time, and enjoyed it even more the second time.

I recommend paying really close attention to every detail in the story. A lot of people didn't like it, including myself the first time, but I had a lot of fun with it the second time when I looked a little deeper.

I like it. I think it's more immersing (whatever THAT means!!) than the traditional menu, turn-based battles.

I also like the interaction with the townspeople in the cities, like "Basch lives!" and getting the chops in Archades.

BTW, Old Archades is probably one of the best RPG slums I've had the melancholic displeasure to traverse. |:3

That's how I thought I would feel. But I like it. Maybe it's just the novelty of something different right now, but I like it. It's comfortable.

Yeah, FFXII seems to rub a certain perentage of people the wrong way. If you like it so far, though, you'll probably keep liking it.

i just finally beat the game. i beat everything there was to beat, only took about 120ish hours. the end boss was laughable.

overall im satisfied with the game.
