It should be called "hardcore flailing." If those kids tried that in a mosh pit they'd get killed.

Well, that's how most people dance in the pit at hardcore shows. Coincidentally, you can almost always count on at least one fight outside afterwards.

I think it's pretty stupid. The music is bad and the show atmosphere is even worse. It's more fun to go see a band like Of Montreal: good music, and half of the crowd is too high to get very rowdy.

Magus and me were at a show where this girl started moshing and crowd-surfing at the same time.

They dropped her like a rock. I laughed snidely.

I dunno, when I was a teenage punk, the pits were not like this at all. It was more focused and less spastic. And it wasn't something you'd see people doing in wal-mart.

Actually it is really fun and certain kinds of music encourage it. It also works with circle pits.

I mosh either way depending on the band and the show.

At Warped and other concerts like that it is hardcore moshing.

At Ozzfest, Family Values, and other concerts like that I normally do normal moshing.

A circle pit is when you dance in a circle. Don't be the asshole that runs in the middle.

I went and saw Between the Buried and Me live, and I don't know how often this happens at this venue or shows like this, but, the kids kept getting on the stage and jumping off to crowd surf. The stage at the venue was very cramped, and many kids came seriously close to knocking **** over and some would stand up there for over 5 seconds waiting for the right time to jump and it was just stupid and annoying.

Very common at a HARDCORE show.

It doesn't matter what you call it, but flailing around like a maniac is pretty fun and great cardio.
