It's good news for me. A $100 slim PS2 would fit well in my budget.

This is cool if you ask me. It just shows that the PS2 is still trying to survive. The X-Box and Gamecube are pretty much dead. I understand the Gamecube because all of the memory runs off of a card and they can be played in the Wii but I still play my X-Box because all of my memory for games is on it... DUMB.

The XBOX still lasted a little after the 360 came out. I still use it 'cause I can't play Castlevania on the 360.

As for the Gamecube, I mostly use ir for the Game Boy Player, though there was this one instance where the Wii couldn't read the Metroid Prime disk but the Gamecube could .

I like the idea, but the PS2 still won't last long if they don't come out with new games. The last real hit I remember was God of War 2. But then again $100...

They have some newer games out that are still 50 bucks for the PS2. Game mags also show new stuff coming out soon for it also.

It might still be $129. It was assumed the price would be lowered but the only official pricing has been in Japan where it's the same as the current model. We won't know if its the same for us until SCEA makes an announcement.

That's odd, because here they are $100 at walmart, and have been for a couple months.
They offer white and black models.

I didn't know walmart did that. For a refurbished model, it's not worth $100. I wouldn't pay that much for something used.

That's how much Gamestop charges for them. But yeah, should be cheaper. Maybe Wal-Mart is just selling them cheaper though, I don't know. The one around here has them for $129.99.

I paid $129.99 for mine at EB last year, and at the time they were selling refurbished models for $99.

I just didn't know Walmart dealt in used goods.

I don't plan on buying a PS3, but I love my PS2 collection. I'm glad that Sony is still making these machines. Maybe when my PS2 dies and I can't find one in the store, the PS3 will be really cheap. That's assuming the PS3s of the future can play PS2 games.
