My PS1 is finally dying!

It was modded so I could play japanese games. I hooked it up just now because I was in the mood for some Tobal, DBZ, and maybe even some Rival Schools (Justice Gakuen) on my day off. But it keeps having trouble reading discs. Lots of skipping, or games won't start at all.

Why won't Sony or SOMEONE make a patch to play import PS1/2 games on a U.S. ps3?

I've had it for 10 years, don't die on me!

All you have to do is clean the laser Thats probably the only problem with it.

Or if nothing else pick one up off of ebay or a pawn shop and change out the laser, or the mods, whichever is easiest

It's not as easy as "cleaning the laser", often times what happens in the mechanism comes unaligned, or just simply wears out.

Ive had the same problem with my PS1 when I had it, and simply cleaning the laser fixed it.

I didnt say that was "the" fix, I merely suggested it as a means of possibly resolving the problem.

You can get a JP ps1 for around $30-40.00 after shipping. They rock.
