    simple q. about switches/keys

Hey all. Thanks for reading this poor noob's question. I'm trying to figure out rpgm3. Anyway, I read a previous post about switches being unable to open locked door. That's okay, i guess. But lets say I have a switch in the dungeon. When the character uses it, it moves but nothing happens (i.e. whatever the switch is connected to is long dead, some old mine equipment?) Then the character finds a key hanging from the mine lever. That sounds good, but there's no event graphic that's truly invisible, i mean, to put an event on top of the switch and have it not be seen is impossible, right? You can't get a key by using the switch alone, you need an event, right.

On a side note, in terms of customization is rpgm2 better than rpgm3? I like to tweak a lot (I have #1 and I like the options). Should I just get ahold of rpgm2?

    Thanks again,
    Agent_Firestalker

Never mind on the event question. I read the "please read before" (slaps head). But even though rpgm2 graphics are worse, is it better in terms of customization than #3?

    Thanks,

First Question: Yes, events can be invisible. It doesn't look like it in the editor (it's a blue block), but it's very much invisible in-game.

Second: Yes, RPGM 2 has a lot more options. Unfortunately, it's very hard to understand.

PS: The second part of your name (Firestalker) is the same as the highest-level light missile in Freelancer. Just a bit of nostalgia there .

You can have an event set to automatically activate when the switch is turned on. Then you can change the mode in the event code, so it doesn't repeat, otherwise you'll cause a loop and the game will bounce you back to the editor.
