I'm ****ing tired of my mp3 player arranging them under unknown. Nearly every album I upload is split in 2 because some tracks aren't labeled. Even the ones I just ripped from my own collection.
Re: How do I edit the author/album of an mp3 file?
Yeah, but I cant edit any of the fields with Windows Explorer.
Oh well, I just downloaded MediaMonkey and it seems to let you edit it.
edit - lord, this is going to take hours.
edit- I edited the properties of a few tracks and it did not save. I copied the folder over to my HD to see if that made a difference. I can access the details tab on the file's property but can't edit anything.
Re: How do I edit the author/album of an mp3 file?
Turns out WMP ****ed up when it ripped my cd.
Lucky me trying to edit the only files that were corrupted.
I'll give it another shot.
Edit-
Turns out I couldn't change any of the fields because I was accessing the files through my device. I just have to move the folder over to my HD, edit it, and move it back.
Re: How do I edit the author/album of an mp3 file?
Yeah, most of the time you can't edit things directly on the device unless it shows up as a USB drive (and not Mobile Device through ActiveSync). Winamp is pretty easy to use to edit MP3 metadata. But I don't really know of a more efficient program, though maybe with the newer versions you can change multiple songs at once I haven't tried. For ripping I've always used Nero since I always get it for free with my DVD drives.
Of course it's also possible your the tags could have been V1 of the MP3 tag, since there are two versions of it now.
Re: How do I edit the author/album of an mp3 file?
Yeah, Microsoft went stupid lately and decided against making a portable device with memory capacity an external lettered drive and now labels them as devices which can only be accessed through Windows Explorer.
Makes editing, accessing, and moving files a terrible pain.
