    the new WoW patch

so what do you guys think of the new WoW patch.. experience wise?

i've gained about 5 levels in too days.. it's nuts.

and my friend got from 57 - 60 in 6 1/2 hours of gamplay.

They did it so people can get to endgame faster. So they can show off all the new features they have. Or whatever. Blizzard has seemed to forget that there is a game in WoW below level 70.

wow, so they made it faster to get to the level cap, where everything is just "LFG" and getting rolled in PvP by clans all day?
        awesome.

Just make level 70 the only level Blizz. Though I do feel the leveling rate when I played a little too long for my tastes.

Might as well go the Guild Wars route and change the level cap to 20

I never liked the idea to change the leveling pace. Areas and quests were set up around the pacing of leveling. Faster leveling will just mean you miss content. But Bliz is so wrapped up in their endgame bull**** they've completely forgotten there is more to the game then just that. But whatever, let them break their own game. The only thing that can really kill WoW Is Blizzard itself and so far they are taking all the steps toward doing so.

leaving low level content undone gives replay value (something new to do when you're making another character). and the distribution of max-lvl chars to those who aren't is already staggering... here's where it was two years ago:

and i'm sure the disparity is even greater now, because the end-game is what the huge majority of players play for. so i really wouldn't say they're causing any kind of irreparable damage on that front.

WoW truly is the casual gamer's MMO.

On my server, if you weren't guilded (and I mean top guilded) you couldn't get anywhere PvP or PvE wise. so that meant like, 15+ hours /week commitment to the game minimum probably.

yeah they want to get players to endgame faster so they can release new content. So they really are forcing players to Power level. The problem with that is now there is going to be a lot of unbalance in the game. People won't be able to pay for thier skills, items will become obsolete and mid level professions won't ever be useful. Instances will become even more obsolete now and the only real game you will find is when you get into the 70 range.

But now 70s will have to contend with inexperienced players who won't know thier classes even though it took them 2 weeks to get to that position, the Raid dungeons will be filled with PuGs and there be more contention for the "leet" gear that took dedicated players months to obtain.

Players are just being spoon fed, there's no actual work and all sense of accomplishment has been tossed out the window.

Remember when SWGs changed so that everyone could be Jedi?

SWG was falling apart long before that.

FFXI has a similar problem on the opposite scope. Everyone pretty much expects you to know what you're doing, since you've been through 75 levels of long grueling injustice just like everyone else. But every now and then you see players who bought their account, or idiots who power leveled their way to 75 (I don't know how - power-leveling is kinda tough passed 35), and you make the mistake of trying to work together with them in a party. Eventually you start forming a list of idiot players you don't want to party with, and/or good players you do want to party with. Because of this, a lot of experienced people have become pretty selective about who they invite, which only adds to the problem of long waiting times.

The whole party demographic changes at 75, too. Paladins who thought they were useful tanks are now realizing that they're slowing down the exp rate. Black Mages who thought they were necessary in a party are now seen as someone you'd only invite if you had extra space. White Mages who were generally considered a requirement are now finding themselves casting Haste on the melee's instead of casting Cures, or being replaced by resourceful Red Mages. And SE's design team only seems to be catering to this imbalance.

But at least FFXI doesn't spoon-feed you. I can only imagine what would happen to endgame if everyone got to 75 in less than a month. It's an extreme sense of accomplishment when you finally get your job to level 75, because it opens up a huge assortment of stuff to do.
