    ever been so throughly crushed by a boss?

    so thrashed that there was no disputing that you suck? so final that there was no shred of hope besides completely revamping and mass power gaming your team? so powerful that you just stare at the screen and just are like damn!

    i tried some top level marks in ff12 but i just got blown into tiny bits, single mass damage spells that mowed my entire party down in a single hit (including my bonus guest). swapped in my second team with full stat boosters and they where disemboweled one by one before i could even cast revive on em. i guess im a bit under leveled, yet i had the best armor i could get besides genji (maximilian).

    i could of swore that instead of gameover it said FATALITY.

    Some of the bosses when fighting them for the first time in Lost Planet made me want to throw my controller against the wall (more tempting since it's wireless), and also made me talk like a sailor.

      The FF12 bosses have a tendency to do that. Just gotta power-level.

      For a while, it was Velius in FF Tactics. Then I poached a Holy Lance and whooped his ass.

      Ozma in FF9, before I found I could do the thing where I find all of the friendly monsters and you're allowed to physically attack it.

        FF4's elemental bosses all rolled into one... Still haven't beaten it.

          Just spam their weak-point spells, like, Lich(or Milon if you're playing the old one) is weak against Fire, the fire one Ice, the water one Bolt, and the wind one Bolt too(I know, odd).

            Hah! I love this topic!! Great idea, Karr.

            I've taken a few sound beatings in Civ 4 (damn you, Julius Caesar!), but I doubt that counts as a boss battle... so then, for me it's the Optional Bosses that have really humiliated me at times... such as Culex in Mario RPG (have yet to even destroy all four crystals!) and the Sword Dancers from Tales of Symphonia.

              ProTip: Equip the Lazy Shell armor on the Princess, then laugh at their wimpy attacks. Wait until they all run out of FP, then revive everyone else and commence whuppin'.

                Alot of the bosses in Viewtiful Joe, and Godhand. Dear lord, I still cant beat Fire Leo.

                    While I've now beaten them, the last 8 boss fights in Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal (the Ravager to the end) are pretty hard.

                    Specifically the Ravager and the fifth fight of the final sequence. In both, part of the difficulty was simply that the boss would endlessly summon helpers who would rip my team apart.

                    At one part, the Ravager so annoyed me that I put the game, which is my favorite game of all time, mind you, down for six months.

                        Final boss in Ar Tonelico (sp?)

                        Get all the way to it and it DESTROYS my team.

                        So I look in the guide it says I am supposed to be level 80 at that point...

                        My team is only around level 50.

                        WHY WOULD JA DO THAT TO SOMONE!? I beat all the rest of the bosses and levels only being at level 50 and under (heck there aren't any enemies that can crush my group nevertheless jack up my levels).

                        Typical NIS game forcing you to level up to extreme amounts.

                          A team of fluffy rabbits (or it's pathetic equivolants) wiped my party in FFXI more times than I could count.

                            I'm pretty good at Samurai Shodown, but Amakusa is the cheapest of cheap bosses (next to Bison on SFII and Gill in Third Strike). At least his level "music" is amusing. It reminds me of the Primus song "Mr. Krinkle."

                              when I first got a PS1 (and FFVII along with it) I didn't know you had to have a memory card. so, for a few days I kept playing the midgar parts over and over.

                              finally I ended up getting out of midgar. overjoyed at my urban release, I wandered the map.
                              then the midgar zolom raped me.
