    My Vector Art

As most of you know, I'm actively trying to start a clothing company, and as such, I'm working on my vector art. I'm still very much learning, and each one takes me about a day to complete. Here are two that I'm fairly proud of, and I'm working on another one right now, hopefully to be done by tonight.

    Some stupid pop-art crap:

And a girl I know (and yeah, she kinda had a dumb look on her face):

    What do you guys think?

I like them, although I know nothing about art. I especially enjoy the first image. Very gangster.

I like them as well, especially the second one. Simple, colorful. Great. In the first one, it seems weird that something like a plant is coming out of the tip of the gun.

My main question is what is VECTOR art exactly? Why is it called that?

I look forward to seeing more of your work, Smurf Taco.

        1. What is involved in 'starting a company'.
        2. What is your goal?
        3. Would you wear this stuff?

Well it looks better than my vector art. I did my vector art from scratch though. Is yours the same or did you outline something?

            Re: My Vector Art

Vector images are made up of lines and fills based on math, not pixels. Scaleability isn't an issue, the work is sharp, etc etc.

The first image isn't bad for stupid pop-art crap.

The second isn't bad either, but if you are trying to design t-shirt prints, I'd stick to a minimal number of colors, and ignore tiny details. The strings, the pick-ups, the eyeballs, those will all be washed out/away before pressing.

I could only find one vector piece I did, but I suppose it's a good example of a spot-color print.

Large washes of color, minimal details. I'd redo the eyelashes if I were to ink this, but eh, example.

            Keep it up, yo.

In the first one, it seems weird that something like a plant is coming out of the tip of the gun.
            Yep.

              Re: My Vector Art

Vector art is infinitly scalable digital art with no loss of quality (like most pictures which look pixelated when enlarged).

"Starting a company" means me going to college and learning how to start a business. My goal is to have some sort of small, probably internet based startup soon after I graduate. And I'm not sure if that was an insult or not, but yes, I would wear the stuff I design.

And most of my work is done with reference, not quite from scratch.

EDIT: Yeah I know about the details and colors, the second one was more for practice than an actual design I would use or submit somewhere. I'm still working on my knowledge of the program, just trying to practice.

DOUBLE EDIT:: This isn't a finished concept, but this part of it is done.

Maybe a little detail heavy, but only four colors.

I didn't get the first one till Smurtle posted that pic. I like it even more now.

I think that new picture looks kinda like me.

I don't know about the pop art stuff. Talk to Jester (if ya can find the bastard), though! He may know a thing or two about starting a t-shirt company.
