PS3 Firmware 2.0 problem

I enabled turning the system on and off using remote play (PSP, of course) and now my system will not turn off. if I use the PS button, actual power button on the console, or remote turn off, it keeps resetting and going to the remote play screen.

anyone know how to fix this, aside from turning the feature itself off?

So far i have not heard of that problem Valk, but as soon as i get home tonight i'll try it too...probably some setting that has to be changed or conflicts somewhere or something.

When trying to connect the PSP to the PS3, is there any difference between connection to the internet and a private network? Both options seem to have me choosing an available wireless connection either way.

When I try choosing my router via internet, it always times out. My PS3 turns on and goes to the remote play screen (luckily it shuts off after a while if not used) but can never connect. Tells me to check my ID login and password to see if they match.

When I do a private network, it'll connect, but when I tried to shut off the PS3, it gave me a connection error. Tried logging in again, I had sound, but couldn't see anything. When I lost connection, it went to the remote play screen, but didn't shut off like it's supposed to after not being used.

It'd be neat to use the PS3 options when I'm away, but I don't wanna risk leaving it on with no one around to shut it off just in case.

sounds like we can expect a 2.1 release pretty soon. sony typically patches these issues pretty quickly.

Okay, this is really weird, because all of the functions are working for me just fine. When i go to turn off the PS3, the PSP will give me an error saying that it has lost connection, but that is because the PS3 shuts down. It lets me turn the system on just fine. And it works through private connection or internet connection.

Sorry guys, i dont know what the problem is. Although the instructions are not completely clear. You did register the PSP in the PS3 remote play settings, didnt you? Also did you actually change the feature from off to on?

I know these are dumb questions, but i'm just trying to help.

my PSP was registered with my PS3 the day I got it. I've used remote play to watch videos downloaded from the playstation store without difficulty. I turned the "remote turn on/off" feature on last night on the PS3. turned the PS3 off. instead, it restarted and told me to connect the PSP via the remote play feature. it continued to do this every time I turned it off with the controller, power button, or remote play shut down until I disabled the "remote turn on/off" feature.

Sorry Valk, i dont know then. I even tried messing up the settings to see if that would do it, but it either worked or didnt, but i have heard of a few other people having problems, so i'm sure there is something that will come to fix it.

Hey, when you when to use the remote play, did it update your PSP?

Hmm, sorry guys, i have no clue then. I'd recommend returning to default settings on the PS3 and PSP and trying again.
