in past games ive fielded ive had a split map where there is two continents but i found those styles over done and boring so this time i choose a more one continent style with a lot more shore lines.

a few days ago i decided to draw out the map using grid paper and trying to be as close to accurate as i could be. i then traced it from that messy sheet to a regular piece of paper (not blank paper because im cheap). i then took a photo of that picture and uploaded it to paint, redrew the lines as accurately as i could then put it here.

with this template i can better see how my world is situated, better plan out where each place should go and have a good idea of where topographical regions are to prevent inconsistencies. this is very important since the time frame of my game is across 2300 years in which global warming happens as well as natural human development (deforestation, environmental damages causing erosion ect).

i strongly recommend people have a hard map of their world as part of their creation package. having a single glance map is handy in planing and gives you a better idea of how your world comes together.

Thats a big map for such small walking area, its going to be extremely small unless you break it up into separate maps.

Looks good nonetheless, but if thats going to be the map remember you cant walk on about 40% of the map area

remember this is rpg maker 1, and i used the whole field map (60x60) so its very big according to average map size (compared to other rpg maker games ive played). tinny towns on the big map link to more detailed versions (town areas) and you walk between towns using the typical paths.

the newest rpg maker games are too limited for me and require far too much coding then i have mind to do.

I've done the same with the new game I'm working on. I put together a map in the Field editor, then I copied it as best as I could onto a sheet of graph paper. I'm going to use the hard map to plot where I want to set the towns and dungeons, because it just feels more organized to plan things out ahead of time.

I haven't bothered copying to a plan sheet of paper. I'm just going to use thhe graph paper, so I can use the grid to help align things with the coordinates in the Field editor. It's harder to do that with plain paper. I might make a more embellished and artistic copy of the map as part of of the finished game package as a reference for the player, but that's a different matter.

I second that. Yours looks cool.

Um...I mean I THIRD that.
