    mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmoneybomb!!!

To show my support, I threw $5 in the garbage disposal. I think it had the same effect.

Real people don't care about the internet. Howard Dean taught me that.

Re: Today is Ron Paul day.

Damn. Ron Paul has already raised over $2 Million dollars, and the day's barely half over. According to the Paul campaign, that's the most any Republican has ever raised online in a single day. And despite what the naysayers say, Ron Paul DOES have a shot at winning. What's he have to do?

          Win the New Hampshire primaries.

New Hampshire has over 50% of its voters listed as independent, and it's been known to swing libertarian. It also has one of the earliest primaries this year. Ron Paul has been campaigning there heavily, and a win in New Hampshire would cause some people, including the media, to take notice and give him more than a fighting chance at getting somewhere. On top of that, what happens if it comes down to Hilary and Gulliani? We'll have two war-mongering candidates to choose from, and people from both sides will be looking for someone to get us out of Iraq and the Middle East. And if he makes noise in the primaries, they may not have to look any farther than Ron Paul.

So it all comes down to New Hampshire. And how does he win it? By getting his message out to the everyday citizen. Ron Paul is not a big-money guy, so he can't buy his way onto television. But events like this give him a chance. His message is spread by everyone who donates.

So go ahead and throw your $5 down the garbage disposal, Kire, if you want to stand by while someone fights for us to end the war in Iraq and restore our civil liberties. But to discourage others by making his whole campaign seem futile? That kind of thinking is exactly why we're stuck in the political position we're in today. Fortunately, not everybody's listening, because Ron Paul now has $2 Million dollars more to spread his message.

I put down $150 for him, and if I had more, I'd give it. I got my folks to donate, too. Any amount helps. In my opinion, he's the most honest, well-reasoned candidate running in these elections, and if you're dissatisfied with the way our government's been going, there's no better time to actually quit complaining and do something than right now.

Wow, I've been doing some reading on this guy, and thank God he'll never get elected. From what I can tell from his wiki page, he's your typichal arch-conservative with some kooky line-crossing thrown in. It's cool that he's anti-war and advocates revising Don't Ask Don't Tell, but he's also...

                -against same-sex/unmarried couple adoption
                -staunchly pro-life
-VERY combative to illegal immigrants, amnesty, and birthright citizenship
-wants the US out of NATO and the UN
                -against gun control
                -against universal health care

Sorry, this guy's just not for me. I know this is coming from a liberal freakshow, but if I'm paying for my soda in gold coins two years from now, I'll be very upset.

Of course money doesn't guarantee he'll win. What investment is ever a guarantee? The idea is that you're directly helping someone who's willing to defend our basic civil liberties and help us escape from an aggressive foreign policy, as well as give your country some economic security. Plus, it's fine if you don't trust politicians for whatever reason, but Ron Paul has run the most transparent fundraising campaign you could ask for. So no, the idea is not to donate to provide some guarantee of Ron Paul winning. But instead of making frustrated, what-can-I-do posts like this:

we're spending $1 billion/week in the war in iraq, but we have homeless people starving and diseases that has no cure, families on welfare, and people with low education....isnt that one of the things saddam was guilty of? putting his selfish schemes first before his people?

They said saddam was hiding weapons of mass destruction....was he? probably not, they didnt find any....but why is it ok for us to hide so many weapons?

I say america is no better then iraq was before this stupid war...and its all thanks to the government
Instead of posting things like that at the Pavilion, and then going about your life, why not fight for what you believe in to make some change? It's not that hard if you actually try.

And Goldgecko, it's fine if your views are not in line with Dr. Paul's, but just to set something straight:

I'm assuming you're referring to this bill that Ron Paul voted 'yea' to in 1999, which states:

                    Official Title of Legislation:

H.AMDT.356 to HR 2587: An amendment to prohibit any funding for the joint adoption of a child between individuals who are not related by blood or marriage.
Ron Paul is not against same-sex/unmarried couple adoption. He's against the federal government providing any funding for programs that are not specifically permitted by the constitution. That has been his pledge that he's maintained as a congressman for 20 years. It doesn't matter whether the funding is for straight or gay couples, single or married. He believes these funding issues should be addressed at the state or local level, as expressed in the constitution. If the federal funding is not permitted by the constitution, Ron Paul will vote no.

There's reports that he ended with 4.2 million dollars. That would be a record for single-day donations by anyone in the republican party, and 3rd behind Clin-ton and Obama. Insane.

Hopefully this will get him some media attention, and will get people to see him as a candidate with a realistic shot. The more people that hear his message, the greater his chances will be.
