But fish also have nerve systems right? They can also feel pain?
I don't think so. Even if they did, their memories are so short they forget about the pain almost right after they experience it, if they experience it at all.
Fish can feel pain, but they wouldn't have the emotional reaction that you'd find in more sophisticated creatures. In short, there's physical damage and discomfort but no trauma on a little fish psyche.
Aside from that, dolphins are apex marine predators. Their removal from the food chain has a pronounced effect on the ecosystem they're a part of. They have much smaller breeding populations and their ability as a species to recover from being taken from their niche in large numbers is greatly reduced compared to most species of fish.
Earlier this year China managed to successfully wipe out the Yangtze River Dolphin, a species that had been around for longer than humans have been.
So you're a fish out of water...
